ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Car randomly dying while running and/or driving

I have a 90 lx and it starts just fine but while I'm driving it sometimes it will fall on its face like someone just reached up and turned off the fuel. Sometimes it will die and sometimes it will just miss REALLY bad. It always starts back up though right after it happens. I know its not the fuel cuz the fuel pump and the fuel filter are new and I've checked the fuel lines all the way to the motor. This is telling me its gotta be the spark! The distributor cap and rotor button are new from what the Guy I bought it from said and it also looks new. Does this mean it could only be the distributor itself or what. I took the spark plugs out and there was a little bit of oil on the top of the threads by the washer on the plug and also playin down in the whole close to the threads. I don't think its enough to cause this reaction but then again I'm not sure. Can someone please give me some ideas on what to do since this is my daily driver and need to get back and forth to work!! Thanks

I also forgot to say that I took the distributor cap off and there was a small amount of oil laying inside the cap. Someone please help me cuz I can't afford to spend money on just guessing what it could be and buying that part like I have done the past 2 weeks since I bought the car!!!

Also I just did the code reading and it said 17, which means speed sensor. This has to be somethin totally different than what I'm dealing with on the spark issue right?? I don't see how that could relate to my problem...

Oil in the distro and the symptoms yours describing point toward bad distributor ....

Might just be the little o-ring needing replaced, and the oil passing the o-ring fouling shit up.

        Start there.

Putting the distributor back in the cam is easy for lack of a better work idiot proof to correctly set the timing on the distributor you will need a timing light to see whther or not you need to retard or advance it to where youre dead on
