ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Doesn't like to start in mornings/CEL 6

Hi guys, I have a 92 Accord LX. When it's really cold in the morning, it takes my car forever to start up, and I have to try a few separate times, then when it finally gets running I have to hold the gas down for a while or it'll die again. After this initial period, it'll run just fine. I checked the error codes, it's sending a 6, which I thought meant the ECT. I changed that last night, and nothing is different! Anyone had this problem before?

Also, not sure if this is related but my fan stays on for a really long time after my car goes off. I don't even have to have my car running, if I turn the key to the on position and then off and back out, the fan runs and stays running for a long time (I'd say around 10 minutes). It's done this since I've got it, and I have no idea why.

For the first issue I'd say its the fuel filter. I just finished having the same issue, same symptoms.

The 2nd issue. Normal for fans to stay running after car is off due to the temp of the engine. But if they come on when car is cold and turned off then its a fan relay issue.

Fuel filter? Seriously? Never even considered that! I had found one other thread with my exact same symptoms and the guy said he finally fixed it with an ECT sensor.

Would you mind helping me figure out where the fuel filter is located? I think it's on the passenger side of the engine bay, is it accessible from the top or do I need to jack it up?

Our cars are sensitive. We need our ECT sensors.

Also if your problem persists it's more than likely your main relay.

There's a diy all over the internet on removal and repairs for all types of Hondas and acuras.

              Fairly common problem.

Repair cost vary about 0-10 dollars.

I just replaced the ECT last night, and the error code and problem remained! I' not sure if I need to reset the error codes or not, I figured it'd go away on its own after driving it. Tomorrow I think I'm going to replace the dist cap and rotor plus the fuel filter, it's been a little sluggish lately also!

I was having the same problem as you OP except the car didnt throw a CEL but the fuel filter swap seriosuly made a difference.

I haven't gotten around to doing my fuel filter yet, as I don't have the right tools and I want to wait till one of my friends who are more knowledgeable can help me. I saw a thread on here where someone screwed their fuel line up enough that they might have to replace the whole thing.

Yes, but a CEL code 6 refers specifically to the ECT sensor, correct?

You could have something else going on, but the few times in 20 years that my CB7 has started the hard starting on bitter cold mornings thing, the culprit has been a weak Ignition Control Module (ICM), also known as Ignitor. When it's not up to spec, the cold air takes a toll on it while the car is parked for hours. After you hit it with current a few times, it warms enough to make the spark it takes to get combustion going. On a really cold morning, though, you could end up turning the key a dozen or more times trying to get it fired up. Replacing the ignitor worked for me. I highly doubt that ECT Sensor is causing the hard starting.
