Being new to hondas, when I was working on my friend's CB7 with a misfire, i searched the internet, including this forum and other honda forums, to find the answer. After checking everything I could think of after isolating it to cylinder 2, it didn't make sense as to what was causing the misfire. NOTHING lead me to believe it was the plug wires being soaked with oil. Subarus, dodge neons, and anything else w/ the spark plug tubes have leakage issues. I've dealt with Subaru a lot especially, but it has never caused an intermittent misfire; moreso when the engine is under load at lower rpm. I was so sure it wasnt the oil leak, I had her take it to the dealer when I couldnt solve the problem. They diagnosed it for free, and I fixed it. No more misfire
IF you have a misfire with no check engine light, first thing you should do is pull the plug wires. If theres oil in there, buy all of the seals and fix it. Replace the wires, too. I know theres a write up for that, I just couldn't find anything that said it caused a misfire. Being a Subaru dealership tech, i felt stumped. I know, I should know that oil will conduct electricity and ground the spark before it goes through the plug.
