ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    shock setup question

It might be a obvious answer to the question but can I just buy 2 shocks at a time? I'm need of some shocks and right now I'm stock. I'm looking to get some KYB adjustable's. Will my ride suffer because I'll be riding on two stock shocks and then two aftermarket shocks? I wish I could get all 4 at once but I can afford 2 at a time.

2 at a time is better than riding on what you have, if what you have is blown.
The KYB AGX are pretty stock-like on the lower settings, so it should be fine. Get all 4 as soon as possible, though.

Also, if you are lowered, or plan on lowering... I truly do not suggest anything by KYB. While they make great shocks, they don't make anything that is designed to be lowered more than 1.5", or with a spring rate higher than 15% over stock (this MAY not be an issue for the AGX, but I wouldn't risk it.) I've had AGXs on H&R Sport springs in the past, and I managed to pop one. Going to Koni Yellows was like night and day. CONSIDERABLY better... comfort, performance, and reliability. I've never damaged a Koni, and I've gone lower since.

If I do lower it will be less than 1.5" most likely. I was reading that thread on the suspension section and it seems Eibach is a good brand to go with if I don't want to lower it that much.

Yeah, Eibach is one of the few companies that offers a spring that will lower a very slight amount. I believe Tein has such an offering as well.
Be aware, less than 1.5" will hardly be noticeable, especially in terms of appearance. You'll likely notice a performance improvement, but you won't see much of a drop. Personally, I like it that way. I don't care for slammed cars... I guess it comes with old age!

We have something in common Besides that I don't want to go to low the roads around here are not the greatest plus I usually have more than 2 people in my car at a time. I don't want my car to bottom out.

I have eibach prokits with the agx struts. They are ok. My dad rides on level 1 in the rear and 3 in the front...its firmer. We got crappy roads here so its decent. But if you have nice roads then the rear at 4 is beautiful.

The drop is very minimal, maybe a little over a 3 finger gap.

I was thinking of selling my agx struts to, just don't know if I can find another set of struts for a decent price anytime soon.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

            Retro!

ProKits are a bit low and stiff for the AGX. Like my H&R Sport, one pothole could end it for one of those shocks!
They're not terrible (my friend is still riding on my old setup... has been for half a decade now), but having a properly matched setup is SO much better all around.
I will never have anything but Koni Yellows on my car... unless somehow, something better comes along.

Ok I'm going to reply here instead of starting a new thread. I decided I'm not going to lower my car. I do want a nice upgrade through. Which ones do you recommend for an upgrade from OEM? I plan on getting some sometime this week.

Koni STR.T is good. KYB AGX is good on stock springs if you'd like adjustable shocks. Stiffen them up for play, turn them down for comfort.

Thanks I'll look into them. Should I replace something else while I'm there, like my strut mount?
