ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Compatibility of Different year Instrumental Cluster 92-93 ?

    Hey, Everyone.

I've been beating my head over this for awhile. Would 93 gauge cluster items be compatible with a 92 gauge cluster?

    Insight -
    - My 92, Gauge Cluster panel would not light up - FIXED everything is OK now
    Other Problems.
-Mileage bar wasn't working and I kinda fix it but now it
just throws random miles into the equation.
-Speedometer works but it takes its time going back to zero
or stays at 20mph or 30mph marker at full stop.

I don't know if anyone else has experience swapping or knows anything on this subject. I ordered a used cluster when I wanted to fix my lighting problem turns out it was a 93 Cluster and busted(not working "fried board") wasn't working right. But I did notice the mileage reader was working correct and the speedometer.

My question is; Would there be any problems putting them in? I figured they look the same and might mount the same?

    Pic of items I salvaged.

Not sure why you thought this was off-topic; it's definitely a technical/repair issue.

92 and 93 clusters are interchangeable, so parts should be as well.

How could you tell? Or was it just based on his problems? I've never tried so I don't know.

The yellow/orange "55" indication is the giveaway.

sounds like the reason for your mph and odometer being off might be the VSS the two are related problems you should look into replacing the VSS its cheap easy and I think would resolve your issue

I switched it about 4 to 5 months ago but not sure if it's bad aswell " pulled from a JY donor car". Maybe It's bad as my old one dunno. In other, I have been following the recent thread about the speedometer but no updates and I have checked the following suggestions. But It doesn't hurt to try and swap for a new part, Thanks you.

It's very hard to tell, but do both speedos have a "NS" at the bottom? If not, they aren't compatible.

And I currently have a 91 speedo in my 92, so yes it will work if your original cluster has a NS on the speedo, otherwise you'll need one that has a "ND".

At the bottom of the gauges

                    Speedomoter - NS - hr-100-25
                    Tach - HR-132-01

                    And original does have NS.

Btw is there anything else I should know or does it just mount in exactly ? Forgot to mention if I can switch the mileage meter aswell?

Thank you for your information. I'm Going to replace them tomorrow.

I know a 91 ex wagon cluster will bolt directly into a 93 ex sedan. Everything was a direct swap. We just swapped the whole cluster didn't take anything apart.

It actually fixed my wondering needle problem too, I'm so happy right now. Another member said if it's NS and you have an NS as original it should fit/mount right.

I can say the 91 Cluster gauges and mileage meter work aOK on a 92 cluster
