ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Weird battery issue?

    Weird battery issue?

This has happened twice now and it could be as simple as a dying battery but I'll go to start the car and the dash lights will flash on and then off. When you crank the car again, it wont do anything, as if the battery were dead. But when you physically touch the positive terminal with your finger on the battery, the car makes a sound like something electrical turning on. Also touching the negative terminal won't do anything. I don't have a voltage meter or I would check the voltage on the battery. Has anyone else had this problem before?

    If it was my car,,,,,
I would wiggle the positive terminal and see if it is loose. Tighten as needed.
If the car is in good mood to start, I will take it to an auto parts store and have them load test the battery.

Sounds like a loose or possibly cracked battery terminal to me too. After you touch the terminal and hear what I'm assuming is a relay clicking will the car start? Either way see if the terminal will wiggle and if it does tighten it.

Loose or dirty connections sounds about right.

The terminal was tight but a little dirty, I'll spray some corrosion cleaner on there and see if that helps. Thanks for the feedback guys!

also check the small ground wire that goes onto the body right next to the battery, i had a similar issue because mine was too corroded and wasnt making proper connection inside the bolted connector itself

IF it happends again, check the terminal but only wiggle the wire. If you see a spark inside there then there is either a bunch of corrosion inside the wire or a really bad connection or break. If you have aftermarket terminals I see it where the paint on the terminals doesn't allow the wire to have good contact with the terminal. A little bit of sandpaper does the trick there.

Also what some people don't know (and it annoys the shit out of me) is that when you tighten the battery terminals there is the right way and the wrong way of doing it. You have to loosen the terminal and tap down the terminal till it bottoms out on the battery post (you can use a bigger deep socket to help to). The terminals are tapered. Then you tighten it.

I seen it so many times that someone would tighten the heck out of the terminal and its still loose cause they didn't shove it down enough. People wonder why their screw strips, or their terminal cracks...well that's why.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

After a few days now everything has been fine (knock on wood). I cleaned it off and I guess that was the issue.
