ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Automatic Transmission Fluid question

I know it's a 3 quart drain and fill, but what about after a transmission change? I'm going to buy my fluid today and want to be sure that I get enough.

The book I have says 6.3 us qts for overhauled transmission.

The capacity listed on that thread is applicable to AT fluid, one drain and refill.

Also, note that it says Dexron II as fluid. Which is correct, based on Honda Maintenance Manual, for our cars.

There's no Honda document that I know of, to supersedes this information. I know there are many Honda Certified Techs on this forum. Please voice up if this is no longer correct backed up by document numbers.

No im suggesting adding a bit about the FULL capacity....not just a drain and refill.

              I understand now.
And I think you are right about that.

I agree! I looked at that and all I saw was the drain and fill.

                  So...
How much ATF should I put into a used trans?
I only put 2.5qts. Do I need more?

There's no way of knowing that for sure, I guess. You'd have to fill 1/2 a quart at a time and check level each time.

I just got back from the Honda dealer and the service tech said if it was an empty trans with a dry torque converter and the cooler had been blown through with air, then it would take a little over 6 quarts. So 6.3 quarts sounds perfect to me. He said to put in 3, start the car, turn it off and check it. Then keep adding fluid a little bit at a time until the dipstick shows the correct level.

Thanks. The last thing I want to do is replace another fucking transmission.
