engine revs up from 500 to 1000 help!!

My engine revs up from 500 to 1000 rpms but only at times can someone help me or tell me what the problem could be.

your engine rev's from 500 to 1000 rpm at times. what times when it's hot , cold , smoking a cigaret what ? what is all the symptoms ? if you cant be more clear then no one will help you . Im not trying to be a dick but we can't understand you.

Lol ok... and well that why its wierd it does it when ever sometimes at cold start sometimes when its been running for awhile so pretty much when ever the car wants to lol but only on Park or neutral

Could be a vacuum leak, your FITV could need adjusted, your coolant level could be low/have an air bubble in the coolant system.

Still practically impossible to understand. Since I don't really know what you're talking about, I suggest you read the thread at the top of this section marked "read here first". In that thread you'll find info on how to fix the VERY common erratic idle issue our cars have.

it can also be the air boost valve next to fitv.

check intake manifold for leaks, sometimes a can of carb cleaner/starting fluid sprayed in leaky areas can reveal where your leak is.
Most of the time adjustment of the idle screw shouldnt be needed. Calibrate your TPS with a multimeter and replace gaskets if necessary. Are there any cel's present? some codes will cause the engine to run like pewp, especially when cold.

ahhh yes the surging idle go figure well check your vacuum lines.

ive had the same problem. go to the side of the intake manifold by the trottle body. there will be a flat head idle screw. for a better view take all of the vacuum lines off the manifold and u will see the screw. the screw will most likely be backed all the way out. take the flat head screw driver and screw it down until your rpms are at 800. if u cant find it im sure u can google a picture.(the screw is on the trottle body)
