Okay so ever since I bought my cb7 coupe it had a leak right where the header meets the down pipe. I had a gasket from my DC Sports headers from my last cb that I never used so I slapped it in and walah the leak was gone for awhile. But as a month ago it blew out again. The previous owner had put an ebay header and down pipe on. I went to a local advance auto and got a gasket that looked like the blown gasket. Tried installing and it wasn't the proper gasket. Anyone got any good suggestions as to where I can get a new gasket and whether or not the stock f22a6 gasket will work?

It DID NOT work. I have a DC Sports header and generic stainless downpipe. Bolt pattern and flange shapes are identical for header and downpipe, the gasket is not. For me, it only got 2/3 bolt holes lined up. I had to re-drill one of the holes in the gasket to make it "work".
It's still leaking. I don't have a solution yet, but my suggestion would be to NOT use the subabru gasket. It's close, but no cigar.

That subi gasket has worked fine on my header. You have to stretch 2 of the holes to have it fit. Also try using a bit of copper RTV on it.Comment

In dj_ender's post, he notes that the two lower bolt holes do not align perfectly. You need to drill them about 1/2 the hole width down. Not a big deal, there is plenty of gasket there still, and that's not really a part of the gasket that matters. The holes for the exhaust piping are a perfect fit and alignment it seems.Comment

next time before you sandwich it all back up, hit both sides of the gasket and both flanges with that copper gasket spray, let it tack up then assemble. made a huge difference with the shitty ebay warez aluminum gaskets.Originally posted by Function>Form View Post
