ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

1993 accord coupe EX-After chunk came off tranny housing, setup sitting lower

hey guys new to the site. a couple weeks ago i was driving home and the poorly re-done roads managed to sabotage my transmission housing. i hit a manhole or whatever theyre called and broke a chunk off the housing. ive come to terms with that unfortunately but im concerned as to after i fix the transmission with a new one, if the mounts will give. the motor and tranny are sitting lower than before i hit. while being towed home, i was bottoming out on bumps i normally would never hit. some help would be much appreciated!

listen i got my first ever replacement tranny this way. it was the only one i cud find for sale on this little island at the time, and plus it was a JDM H22 tranny so i said yea ill bolt it up to the mount best i can for right now and get it welded. the chunk missing actually had part of one of the holes where the mount bolts go. meaning i had two holes left to actually work with. i probably didnt notice my shit sitting lower than normal, but when it was said and done i went thru axles, rebuilt, brand new, even acura CL axles..before it realized the compromised mount situation put stress on the axles. as for you, you say the car is bottoming out..as in your springs/coils becoming fully compressed only after your frame touches the ground? because unless your engine/tranny/oil pan is touching the ground, your CAR bottoming out is a whole nother situation in itself. meaning not related to engine/tranny mounts

OP, are you slammed to the ground? There is no reason whatsoever that your transmission should have the ability to touch the ground. If you're slammed that low, it's your own fault and not the roads. I live in Houston, TX and I know what really bad roads are. If you're not slammed then it sounds like a mount gave out. Either way, it sounds like it has failed at this point. Check those and see if any of them have movement. You may have to get a prybar inside the bay and pry at different places to see if you can detect movement in the mounts. Than, just make a habit of riding safe once you replace the transmission.

well the chunk thats missing exposed the threads on a bolt. only thing is i dont know wether that bolt was only just a bolt for the housing or if it went to something else. and yea my coils are fully compressed. im not slammed but i am sitting low. however the coils i have are ebays, thats the way i bought the car. i know which roads to take and where ill bottom out. ive never bottomed out that hard. i caught a bit of air whe i hit that manhole. my corner lense broke off and my bumper is now hanging due to that hit as well.

im not slammed as much as most of my friends are. their control arms smack on every other pebble in the road. im merely 3-6inches off the ground. and thats one concern i had about the mounts as well as if the back one or front gave out. and when i would rev up the engine manually fom the throttle body prior to this accident happening, i would see very minimal play but she would tweak back a bit. and yea i know now a very important spot to avoid.
