ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

93 accord automatic wont start! help!

i was driving fast in 3 tryna pass a frind and the car just quit on me, it rolled to a stop and the gas peddal woudlnt work and the brake became hard to push in. so i called a frind and he said its the starter. weeks later i bougghht a starter from napa and put it in my self, it looks a little diffrnt from my dead one so i was kinda lost but connected the wires as close as i remmebered., put ina new battery and the car just clicks fast and makes a little hissing sound. wont start. my friend tryed the putting a wire from battery to the little wire on the new starter with key turned on....no go.
    ideas?

ive had this happen to me at least over one period of time. however what i have dealt with on frequent occasions is troubleshooting for certain problems which ended up coming back to a fuse. cant remember if our car has a starter fuse, but check all your fuses. if you bought a brand new starter, then that couldn't have been your original problem as your car still wont start. and the starter wouldn't have caused your car to quit in the first place anyway. things to check after all your fuses and relay? make sure your battery is good, this one i think can certainly make the car die, if you've got charging problems. also check your grounds, this suggestion should be up there with fuses, along with this goes your battery terminals.

Ok so I found out original starter works and when I put it back in I used jumper cables from other battery to make it spark and spin with key on, but it spins fly wheel but the wheel or starter just spins and spins with no other sound or reaction from the motor.... HELP??

Did u check to see if you have spark ( pull one of ur wires out with the spark plug and put it next to a ground have someone crank the car if it sparks it has spark) also check ur fuses

Sounds like your gonna need a fuel pump or you possibly ran out of fuel, have someone start the car ehjle you hold the spark wire near a clean un painted piece of metal. If you hear arcing you have spark, next while you have your friend crank the car smell what comes out of the tailpipe if you smell raw fuel you have no spark or very little, if you smell hot air throw some gas in and if nothing changesyour gonna need a fuel pump

X2. Easiest things should be done first. Make sure you have fuel in the tank and check for fuel pressure being on the fuel rail.

1.) So you where driving and the motor just quit?
2.) Then you tried to start it and nothing?
3.) Found out the old starter was good and still would not start?
4.) The starter is turning the flywheel and the motor is turning over?

1st off you need to check for fuel and spark. Check the fuel and the fuel rail and the spark at the plug. If both of those are there you have a timming issue. You can search around to find out how to do those checks in . http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=158531 Also from the sound of number's 1 and 4 the timing belt might have snapped. The starter will will engage the motor and it will spin freely with no resistance and no motor turning over sound. You need to check your timing belt by pulling the valve cover or peaking behind the cover. If you dont know where that that is check out this link on the timing belt procedure. http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showpost...91&postcount=1.

First off. You need to check to see if your timing belt broke or not. Open the oil fill cap and with a flash light shine in while you look. Have someone else try to start the car. If there is movement, the belt is fine. If there is no movement, its a snapped belt.

Another thing to check would be spark.

Just two weeks ago my timing belt snapped. Replaced the belt and then the ignitor in my distributor went bad.

My belt is still on the cam gear, or does it still hang on it if it's broken too?
I think I might buy new spark plug wires and such, took the starter back for a refund, I tested the new one to my old one and it's slow as crap, my old one spins faster...

True. All the things you numbered.
Ill try to find spark, I kinda feel like I don't have one,
Oh! And the weather is below freezing if that matters

                            Just cover the basics.

                            1.) Spark
                            2.) Fuel
                            3.) Air
                            4.) Mechanical Timing

With these basics you will find which way to look before replacing random parts. Since you are new to the car mechanic realm you might want to pick up some basic diagnosis tools. Spark tester would be a good place to start. Then if it is a spark issue a test light will save you tons of money being able to test the distributor.
