ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    F22B1 swap on CB7 92 Accord

    Hello,
I just purchased a 92 Accord F22A* with no motor for $300 and put in a F22B1 SOHC VTEC in it. VTEC is not hooked. Im running off the OBD1 ECU and I cant get the powering steering pump on it. The bracket of the f22a* wont fit and I heard it did. Must I change te ECU? Now the car is A/T and it revs kinda high before it shifts and on 3rd gear I must release the gas pedal for it to shift. And I think my mech left out the vacuum line for the fuel press regulator. I have a pic of the parts I see not connected. I pressume vacuum because the car idles rough on Gear and when on complete stops, but the RPM's are right on 700 RPM idle. Guess my question is, should I have changed the ECU? Can I trust the codes of the ECU for a F22a* on a F22B1?

The F22B1 is a VTEC engine, so yes, you need the proper ECU for that engine. P0A is what you want.

I believe we have a good thread on an F22B1 swap floating around the swaps section. I think it was created by darkcloud. I suggest finding that and reading through it, double checking your mechanic's work. I had an H22 swap done about 10 years ago by a "reputable, knowledgeable shop", and I'm still fixing their halfassed work today!

I'm not an expert on automatics, so I'll leave that answer to someone that knows better than me.

So POA is the right ECU? I was confused between that and PO6... Thank you

Why were you confused? The P06 is a non-VTEC Civic ECU.

Is the transmission from an F22B as well? The shifting could just be a difference in TCU shift point programming.

No, the tranny is the F22A, it was direct bolt on, actually the car shifts at 5,200RPM... Just noticed today, it's very consistent.

Then you have a solenoid problem or a torque converter problem, or some other problem.. It should shift at around 3,500 RPM... Is you D4 light on? Can you pull the TCU codes?

A torque convert has no effect on when a car shifts

It sounds to me like his kickdown cable is out of adjustment.

I have no flashing D lights... Eventhough the mechanic said he was getting some and the only way to get it out of park was by putting the key in by the shifter. I dont know what or he did it but fixed the problem. I havent pulled the TCU codes yet. I think he disconnected or took something out to fix it. It downshifts kinda hard too.

It sounds like your mechanic did a real hack job of installing everything

A partially shelled torque converter shifts late. The kickdown cable shouldn't make a difference being that he is seeing the late shifting consistently under regular throttle. I would say it would be the kick down cable if it never down shifts under near full throttle.

OP, you mechanic screwed you. You don't take things out to "fix" something. Go to another mechanic and have him diagnose it then go back to the hack job shop and demand they pay the other mechanic to repair their hack job.

This should be the pic of two things I see unplugged, and just wonder if due to the swap its ok to be unhooked.
This rest of pics of the motor in it and what it looks like:
                            1.http://pbckt.com/pj.RStyGM
2.http://pbckt.com/pj.RStoeh-On this one you can see how he zippy ties the throtle cable which by the way you can feel play in the pedal, about 2 inches before it actually accelerates... I need to adjust it.
3.http://pbckt.com/pj.RStYgg-heres the dizzy and coil, I heard something about plugging a 30 amp fuse and avoid the whole coil thing and could have used the one from the F22A
4.http://pbckt.com/pj.RStqvH- this the whole motor pic, I wanna show how the power steering wont fit
5.http://pbckt.com/pj.RSeRuR-this is front end pic, I cant seem to make either bracket work for power steering

Which is the POH? If you dont mind me asking...would it require any tuning or is it plug and play??
