ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

93 sedan the worlds biggest tune up

Hey guys what's up . I'm in the middle of a major tune up on my 93 ex . I originaly planned to do the h22 swap but after waiting 5 weeks for a call I decided to wait and find a nither f22a6 to rebuild for boost .

So I have started my suspension setup which consists of form and function type one, energy suspension front master bushing kit , 4 New rotors , 4 New calipers .

I am also doing all the maintenance parts such as exidy oem clutch kit , fidanza 8 lbs flywheel, plugs , wires ,cap and button, fuel filer and a timing belt kit.

My concern is my transmission , the input shaft has approx 1/8 of an inch play in all directions and when rotating the shaft you can hear ball bearings getting caught up in the gears . So I'm assuming I need a transmission . I'm no transmission expert but is replaceing the bearings something that I can just have replaced or just forget about it and replace it with a remanufactured unit . Any input would be great .

So this is a transmission question? It'd have been helpful to know that in the title. I can't help you with a transmission. Anyone who can may very well look right over a thread about a tune up.

if the input shaft has that much play, god knows what else is loose or damaged inside. I will get reman or jy unit if it was me.

Replace the transmission, then delete this thread...

Chances are you will split the case to replace the bearings just to find tons of other damage.

First off , I apologize for the crappy therd title , ect . And I'm going to go ahead and order a rebuilt transmission this evening. I'm thinking the chances of me splitting the tranny and ever expecting it to work again is slim. Thanks for the information .

If I can keep the old one I'm going to split it just to see what is going on in there .

Manual transmissions are not hard to take apart, it can be a challenge to get it back together. Increase your chances and get a FSM or Helms.

The first thing you will see broken is going to be the caged input shaft bearing, the next thing to may find is bent/partially broken shift forks and extreme inner bearing wear on the shift arms.

If it got bad enough it will look like wet silver paint on the inside of the transmission, at that point you make a table centerpeice out of it.

Check out my MRT for a serious maintenance list, LOL!

You should at least crack open the transmission when you get it down, even if only for the learning experience. I repaired my transmission pretty much blindly; I researched a bit how they operated and what I should expect to find inside, but it's really not that complicated (standard shifts, at least). If your bearings or such didn't grenade, then chances are your other parts are just fine and all you need is to replace the bearings.

You can start a thread in the BIG (beginners image gallery) and format it like a MRT (follow the rules closely on format) and when you hit 30 posts PM a mod to relocate to the MRT section.

That's the way to do it. Build threads in this section generally get deleted, unless they are asking direct questions, or showing detailed instructions on how to do something. It leaves far too many openings for post whoring ("nice build, bro")
