ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Need advice on which engine to use

Hey guys. So, in June I got my first car, a gold 93 4dr se cb7. I have been reading this forum religously for about a month, and have learned a ton. But, I need advice. I don't know whether to keep my f22 and work on it extensively and boost it, or buy an h22 and swap it. The tranny is auto, and I will def get a 5 spd either way. But i need to know what you guy would do. I have no money right now, but I would be able to save 300-500 a month for upgrades. My f22a6 has almost 300k miles on it. It runs well, needs a tune up, which will be payed for after i get off surgical leave and work again. I'm 16, this is a daily driver, and will probably be the car I go to college with, if permitted it is still in good shape. The two paths again, in my eyes, are either an h22 and lsd wap with basic mods or keep my f22, rebuild it and put a lot of work into pistons, rods, cam, etc... with an eventual turbo setup. Ideas? Comments? Suggestions? Warnings?

Well it all depends on if you want to go turbo or not... You say if you get the H22 then you will not go turbo. But if you build the F22 you will eventually go turbo.

Me personally I could give a damn about turbo. I would swap the H and call it a day, maybe intake and header or something... I have no desire to build an engine but thats just me. Building the F is going to be a lot more money in the end. If you got money like that then I would do the H swap and use the rest on something else.

how i see it, h22 if you want decent power and good, stock reliability. f22 if you want good power, and don't mind either sacrificing reliability, or more money.

H22 with a good header/intake is more than enough power for a cruising car, has the power for when you want to have a little fun or piss off integra kids, but at the end of the day, you'd get more power out of a built F22/turbo set up. But come on realistically? Would I love a turbo F22 Cb7 of course but reality wise just swap an H22, it's reliable, and powerful.

H22 and 5-speed. Put the rest of your money into suspension and maybe some nice wheels and tires.

The answer is simple. DO WHAT YOU WANT. IT IS YOUR CAR.
If you've done research, you certainly know the strengths and weaknesses of the commonly used engines. After that, it's simply a matter of what you want out of it, what you're willing to spend, and what will provide the best compromise between the two (it will ALWAYS cost more and do less than you'd like... that's just how it works with old cars.)

I'm now locking this thread, because every postwhoring noob on the site is going to have an opinion, and none of them matter... because it's your car, not theirs. They can't think for you. If you can't think for yourself, then I'm sorry... there's not a whole lot we can do for you.
