ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    02 sensor replacement

    Hi all,

I either suck at searching or I can't seem to find info on how to replace my o2 sensor. I bought one from online, but the end has (4) wires.

    (1) brown
    (1) brown
    (1) yellow
    (1) burgundy/rich pink

    --

How do I set up the wires? My old sensor has black wiring.. I can't tell what's what!?

woah hold on now... Did you buy a Bosch? if you did, return it because our cars do not like those o2 sensors. If you bought a new OE one specifically for your car, it should have been plug and play meaning you take off the old one and put the new one on then plugged the electrical connectors up and you were done. You should not be splicing wires when it comes to the o2 sensor.

No, it's a OEM. Just no white/grey connector.

It's not Bosch, but all I want is to pass emissions, for now.

          You don't want Bosch.
And if it's OEM, it should have a plug. If it just has bare wires, I don't know what the hell you got.

Use only Denso or NGK/NTK. No other brand is certain to work (and if it doesn't work, you're not passing emissions.) I STRONGLY advise against cutting off the stock connector on your car to splice the wires. If you alter the resistance in the wires, the result can be improper o2 sensor readings no matter how many times you change it.

Buy the a new Denso from RockAuto for $29.
            Probably cheaper than your Bosche.

That's weird man.. I've only replaced an o2 sensor twice before and they have always just plugged into place of my old one once i have removed it. Never had i ever had to splice wires.

"universal" sensors are available. They just come with pigtails that you splice on. When proper plug-in sensors are available, it's senseless to waste money on one. Especially since that Denso from RockAuto gets cheaper and cheaper by the minute! We used to marvel at the "cheap" price of $45! o2 sensors used to be $80+!

yeah that was pretty much the reason why i came to the assumption that he had bought a bosch o2 sensor because i've never seen a Denso or NTK sensor where it had to be spliced.

Ok well since I had no access to online, and I already spliced the wires.. My o2 sensor reads fine.. until 5-7 minutes later. My CEL light comes back on.

So I should really buy a denso? I mean the O2 sensor that was on my vehicle originally, was black, green, white, black wires. Obviously not OEM.

They simply took the old wires out and placed the new ones in the same sockets. I just don't understand how exactly they went.. But I assumed the only black wires were "current" and I checked w a test light, and I just hooked up the (new)brown wires- to where the (old) black wires were, and just guess the the colored ones.
