ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Need help with capacitors?

    Hey everyone,
I'm going to replace a 15 ohm resistor in my car along with two capacitors. I have to buy the two capacitors before Saturday morning to fix my car for work. What would the capacitors "33uf 35v" and "220uf 35v" be called at pepboys? Would it just be called "33uf" & "220uf" or? I'm new with electronics so please help. Oh an also a piece of the board has lifted its a wire that connects to the hole of where a wire from the capacitor goes in. How would I lay that back down to re connect it? Just glue it or touch it to the capacitor or...? Please don't give me a "replace the tcu from a junkyard and then replace the capacitors" that's not the answer I'm looking for. I'm looking for where at pepboys would I find these capacitors, what are they called and how do I fix my board problem.
Thank you all for your time and help,
    Antonio

I would bet that PepBoys (or any other automotive store) wouldn't carry capacitors. You would have to go someplace like Radio Shack to get them. And shouldn't you be replacing a resistor with a resistor? Capacitors and resistors work very differently.

? I'm not replacing it with a capacitor? An really? Because I went to a RadioShack store and they told me a Automotive store would have them because they didn't?

        A Resistor controls voltage.

A Capacitor stores an electrical charge and controls current flow.

My Radio Shack dosent carry them eather.

PICS! I'd like some pics so i can help figure out some stuff on that board! but here's what I got without:

I've recently got into a bit of electronics, so I'll give you a hand. you are going to need a soldering iron, first off. you can't remove or replace either the resistor or the capacitors without one. the "uf" stands for microfarad. the 35v stands for 35 volts. If you can, get new ones that match the uf number as close as possible, but don't be afraid of a slightly higher number. (the closer the better however.) You must match the volts exactly, as the circuit may not be able to handle higher voltage.
If you have a loose wire that goes the the hole where the cap attaches to, you are going to have to re-solder it in place once you have the new capacitor inserted into the board.

          EDIT:
I guess I'm lucky, my radio shack carries all kinds of small electronics stuff like this :P

Oh when I mean a piece of the board is ripped I mean like the little strips that go from one point that is soldered to another. Like it looks like a white line that could connect the electric connection from one part to another.

I texted you back. I need a pic of the capacitors some way some how if you have them. Text or on here. My friend just told me he bought a DVD remote from walmart for $8 and it had a capacitor in it that you could make work.

EDIT: You just have to modify it he said and itll work.

EDIT AGAIN: Sorry man. It was a haggard idea anyways.
