ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

92 CB9 front camber issues. what should i buy?

so here's my 92 CB9 that i lowered with sum Tenzo-R progressive lowering springs.

before i lowered the car i noticed it was chewin up tires on the
passenger front. now that its lowered i go through a tire every
two months on the front passenger. i know i need an alignment
but i need to get a camber kit first...what should i get?

this kit cost around $200, or... ball joints for $165

i dont know. i would like your input. please! i hate buying tires
and getting em mounted. makes me wanna buy mounting and
    balancing machines!

your toe is killing your tires, and get the ball joints for the front and the adjustable Upper control arms for the rear, and get an alignment..or an alignment at least for now to save some tires till you can get the camber sorted, which isnt as critical as toe from a wear perspective

i know i need to do an alignment, but i dont wanna do one, then get the camber and get another alignment done.

SPC or Ingalls up front. Ball joint or anchor bolt style, doesn't really matter which one. Anchor bolt is a bit cheaper if I remember correctly.

And since you are on springs I would just throw some washers in the back. Fuck spending all that on a rear kit when you can spend $10 on a couple of bolts and some washers.

the alignment guy I work with, when aligning my car said the anchor bolt camber kits are worthless and even showed me an adjustable ball joint in one of his parts catalogs and the gate tensioner R-UCA's he's been doing this sort of stuff at least 20 years.

SPC and Ingalls are the ONLY brands to trust. A cheap ebay kit can kill you (literally... that breaks, and you crash.) The 'washer trick' HardInThePaint mentioned works just fine for the rear. Just use automotive grade bolts, not Home Deopt bin bolts.

But yes, if your toe is off, it'll chew your tires up faster than negative camber alone. Negative camber and bad toe will destroy a good set of tires in under 3000 miles. How do I know all of this? Because 1) I bought a cheap ebay camber kit (dropzone), and it broke. I nearly crashed. Amazingly, I had about 2mm of metal holding my control arm on, so I didn't. 2) when I replaced those anchor bolts with the stock parts, I never got re-aligned. My brand new tires lasted about 2500 miles before they were showing belts.

also, if you're lowered on stock shocks, I STRONGLY suggest putting your stock springs back on until you can afford some shocks that can handle that drop. Blown shocks are very dangerous, and they can also result in accelerated tire wear.

I'm not sure why he told you that, it achieves the same result as the ball joint kit... Which is the ability to correct camber.

He showed you an adjustable ball joint and a gate tensioner in a catalog? What does that have to do with anything? I'm not sure how that proved anchor bolt camber kits are worthless...
