ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Bent shift cables

Hey guy's I keep having a problem with bending my shift cable's on my transmission. I have the jdm F22B dohc with the m2j5 transmission, stage 4 clutch, and running 11 psi of boost. This is the second set that I have bent, and it happened when I was racing at the track. It started after I did my burn out, I went from first to second no problem. Then when I went from second to third it binded up and didnt want to go in. After that first, third, and fifth was hard to get into gear.
Has this happened to anyone else? Or does anyone have a good idea on what it might be? I will be pulling my transmission soon and would like to know what it might be. I've been searching for hour's now and keep coming up with people talking crap, and no useful info.

So you think it's just old cables? I've gone through two sets now. Do they make after market cables for our car?

I have no direct experience, but it sounds like your motor mounts are letting the trans move too much. I'm guessing you don't have a torque strut/front motor mount either. Do you have solid/urethane filled mounts?

Try to add zip ties every 3 inches or so on the 2 cables.

The zip ties will prevent excessive movement in the shift cables. U ever have to zip tie the throttle cable on a lawnmower? Same concept. Make sure the cables are mounted correctly to the body and engine and that they are the correct ones for your car. New cables are ridiculously expensive. That's y I suggested junkyard. Maybe u got another bad set

It's been done for many years, mostly helps with shifting at high rpms but it couldn't hurt. Kind of the same principal as bicycle cables getting out of shape if not secured.

If that doesn't help I'd say open up the transmission and take a look for damage.

K, i'll try that for sure and let you guys know what I come up with. I have the prelude shifter in my car and been running the prelude shift cable's, but those cables are getting harder to come by. I like using those because it seems like there a bit stronger than the accord, but maybe I'm trippin.

But on a postive note, I ran a 14.2 @ 101.78 mph before the cables got bent. It's the first CB7 to hit the 100 mph club at the firebird raceway in idaho since 2004 and possibly ever!! When I said something about it being the first accord, I got there attention and they said they where going to check into it and let me know. So hopefully that's the case, that would be pretty cool.

the prelude cables are shorter than the accord cables. That's your problem. I tried using the prelude cables when I couldnt find any accord cables and they bent shortly after. Gotta go find some accord cables

huh... ok i'll give that a shot. Everything that i had read said that if you use the prelude shift plate and shifter you had to use the prelude cable's. But I guess I misunderstood.
