ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

If you're looking to get better MPGs, don't waste your money on all that shit. The only thing that'll truly help, if your car is mechanically sound, will be your right foot.

There was a guy giving seminars in the 1980's about surface carburetor. I attended one of those back then. Got some booklets and whatnots. But were stolen from my book case from my dorm room. Never had a chance to make my own. You should try one and let us know.

      Something like this

My dad has told me about a guy he knew years ago who was running a 350 chevy off one or two motorcycle carbs. It didnt have much power he said, but it would get 30-40mpg and do the speed limit.

Id like to learn more about HHO but as far as an atomizer i would say its false or at least misleading.

Fuel atomizers are absolutely worthless gimmicks.

Most other "too good to be true" fuel efficiency mods are also worthless. With fuel economy laws getting as strict as they are now, car companies would certainly embrace these methods if they were truly effective, rather than dumping billions into alternative fuel options.

As said, the best gas saver is your right foot. Keep your engine in top mechanical condition, and go easy on the gas pedal. Weight reduction and longer transmission gearing can also help.
Cadillac implemented a "skip shift" mechanism into the 1st gen CTS-V to save gas. They managed to duck a gas guzzler tax by doing so. The mechanism makes the shifter slip easily into 4th from 1st.
In a CB, shifting from 1st to 3rd to 5th would probably do much the same. I don't know anything about an old Cutlass... though this section isn't about that anyway, so it really doesn't need to be discussed.

That guy was probably running lean as hell
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

              Retro!

Thats what i said too. My dad said it didnt matter becuase it was still possible and the idea still worked. This was back in the early 80s mind you. I still ask my dad about it from time to time. He tells me that ill never understand it because i dont believe it. And i wont ever believe it because i didnt see it. I believe my father but i question what he seen.

EDIT: However there are ideas out there that im sure work. But im thinking most of them we havent discovered yet.

"it worked"... kinda like the pull-out method.

I knew a guy that put diesel in his Subaru. It worked. Wasn't a good idea, and probably did a hell of a lot of damage... but it worked.
I knew a guy that made 400hp on a stock F22A block. It worked. Until it blew up.

good to kno. most fuel savers are bull, we all remember the tornado lol. and i kno nobody cares about a rusty old cutlass, i dont even really care for the car aside from its lowrider potential, which is far off. my accord gets 25mpg better than my impreza did, so im happy. thanx for the info
