ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

OEM H22 Type S or Euro R cams will be an upgrade.
Most reputable "Stage 1" cams will often not require any additional mods. Most manufacturers will say this if its the case.

You're on your own on prices. I'm not doing your shopping for you. Look into Crower, Crane, Bisimoto, and (as much as I hate the company, they make good cams) Skunk2.

thank yu sir, i have been looking at cams, but i figured that most of the ones i have looked at will need an upgraded valvetrain to run without breaking anything?

If it doesn't need it, it will say it. Or rather, the next step up will specify that a valvetrain upgrade is needed.

It's smart to upgrade regardless. Old springs may not be quite as good as they once were.

"best" is a matter of opinion, as well as your particular setup, unless you're comparing manufacturing quality... and all of the major manufacturers have comparable quality of parts.

One cam profile isn't "better" than another without taking other factors into consideration. An engine with lower compression and larger displacement will benefit from a considerably different cam profile than an engine with smaller displacement and higher compression, for example.

              Deev has got this one.
OEM cams Type S or Euro R cams will be great, but good luck finding the cams alone. You won't get a huge boost on stage 1 cams alone, because to get a full benefit you will need a tune to get a big boost of power, even with stage one cams. But usually people would do that with "stage 2" or higher cams.

Easiest to find would probably be Skunk2 Tuner Series Stage 1. But I believe the Bisimoto Lvl 1 cam is about 350, but you got to provide a core for them.

Any cam that requires a core is a regrind. More expensive billet cams are better, honestly.

You can buy Type S cams new from a number of places (PasswordJDM used to have them, I think... I haven't checked to see if they still do.) They're no cheaper than any others, but you know what to expect. Keep in mind, the Type S cams are about on par with most "stage 1" cams, and the Type S only made 20hp more than the standard H22A. That 20hp came from the cams, higher compression pistons, P&P'd head (or maybe just polished, I forget), upgraded intake manifold, and I assume an upgraded exhaust manifold (I do not know for sure.), plus an ECU tuned for all of it.

for tuneability, id look at something that is a stage one like a crower stage one. off vtec it is near stock and the vtec cam profile is different. ive smogged one with a stock ecu and it still passes smog.

Was it Crower that had the 1.5? Essentially, stock non-VTEC lobes, and Stage 2 VTEC lobes... or something like that. There was a dip in power at the crossover, but those cams allowed for bone stock operation below VTEC range, and crazy race operation in VTEC.

A loose Google search for "H22 1.5 cams" didn't bring up anything but I would be down for something like that in a heartbeat.

I can't find anything either. All I can find is a bunch of old posts by me about it!

I don't know if it exists anymore. People didn't care for them because of the terrible dip in power at the crossover. Still... I don't really see the difference between that and "VTEC killer" cams, that are essentially JUST the VTEC lobes. The low lobe will get you off the line fast, you'll have one short bog in 1st, then you can shift into VTEC from that point on, and stay there...

I really wanted those for my car. If they don't reappear, I may see if I can have a custom set made, even if they're just regrinds. I'm sure Delta or Web will do it, if I give them the specs I want.

yeahh yu pretty much explained what i wanted. I just want a simple daily, BUILDING SPARE h22 on da side, and i want it to be fun, and i want to get cams that will not killl vtec that way i can take off fast, hit vtec and be good. I was thinking about all upgraded valves, valve springs and retainers,(Skunk2) and getting the head ported and polished with 3 angle valve job exc, im gunna make my dailys engine as clean as possible and as reliable as i can without spending big$$$. Plus power comes mostly from the head Untill yu start looking into forced induction and shit, then having forged internals and shit will help in the long run, off topic i kno, but im pretty content with my block, so i wanna get my head done to make a lil power out of it so my daily is fun.. Yu guys are really alot of help.
