ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

How can you tell if the timing belt needs to be changed?

I just bought a 91 se with 169000 miles. I looked at the timing belt when I changed the valve cover, it had real tiny cracks on the top of it, but looked solid. All the teeth looked good, I have a steady idle, but, i'm worried about it because I had to replace a engine in a Integra once. I don't wan't to go through that again.

If you aren't sure when the timing belt was changed then it's probably time to change it.

It's always better to be safe than sorry. Plus a timing belt is pretty cheap considering the price of if it snaps while driving.

If there are cracks, replace it asap, like now.

agree with dj.. replace it a small crack can go snap whenever it chooses. and while your in there, replace the water pump and balance shaft belt. and also look at your cam seals while your in there.

If it doesn't have one already then you'll need a balance shaft seal retainer also.

What everyone said. When I got my CB9 the first thing I did was drive it home and replace the timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, idler, adjuster, front seals, tube seals, and valve cover gasket.

When you have the timing belt off it is really a good time to replace all of the oil seals on the front of the engine and also the lower "tube seals" that cause so much trouble on these cars.

I'm not sure of the OP's future intentions as far as mods go but if he's looking for performance shouldn't he just remove the balance shaft belt? Quick, cheap upgrade to free up some ponies while he's in there. Just a thought.

Can this be done on F22a1? Where can I read more about it?
                Thanks.
