ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    4g63 pistons?????

i read a thread sayin that some1 used mitsu 4g63 pistons in their build...my questions are:

    1) how difficult is this?
    2) what type of modifications do i have to do to make this work
    3) are the pistons forged? the 4g63 is a turbo engine so i would guess yes..

i only asked this because my cousin has a spare 4g63 block with good pistons

The amount of custom work necessary to make them fit properly would be considerably more than simply installing pistons designed for your engine. The potential for failure, especially since you are inexperienced, is going to be considerably higher.

i searched around and the 4g63 has the same bore of 85mm but i am unsure of the pin diameter

The bore is the same, yes... but when you replace the pistons in a 20 year old motor, you have to hone the sleeves. This will widen the bore slightly. Additionally, used pistons (that may be 20 years old themselves) will also have their share of wear.
Putting used 85mm pistons into a used 85mm block that has been properly prepared will most likely result in a very loose fit... you'll blow that up pretty quickly!

Brand new replacement 4G63 pistons that are slightly oversized would be a better option... but if you're doing that, you're better just getting inexpensive aftermarket stuff that is designed for the F22A.

The 4G63 pistons, as said many times anywhere this topic is discussed, are the 1.130" compression height aftermarket versions. These were designed to be used with the 100mm stroker crankshaft. You cannot use factory 4G63 pistons unless you're trying to aerate your cylinder head by punching holes in it. Like Deev said, you don't have the know-how to accomplish this even with the right parts, it sounds.

4g63 is a horrible motor anyway. I wouldn't even use the oil cap if it fit.
