ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    60 Mph at 2500 Rpms

This might not be a big deal to some of you guys but my car used to be at 3000 Rpms to hit 60 Mph.

I also hit 70 mph at 2800 rpms.

Cleaning your IACV can do wonders.

    Anybody better than this ?

x2 your tcc or torque converter clutch is "locked up" to your impeller during highway speeds lowering rpms and improving MPG... "Over Drive"

the IACV is the only thing i worked on and the car is way better in gas and i do feel a gear that slows my rpms down and keeps the car goin fast as u said overdrive.

Im guessing that is good but wed3k doesnt seem to agree.

i have an h series intake. includes tb, plenum, intake manifold. plus short ram.
the iab is hooked to a vaccum line.

jewelproject is referring to a car with manual transmission. The automatics should run at about 2500 rpm in 4th with the torque converter completely locked up (according to the service manual, there are several stages of partial lockup, but it just may go through these while getting to full lockup). While working on the IACV did you mess with the throttle cable to the transmission? How long have you had the car?

an iacv doesn't control lockup. thats like putting in an aftermarket deck makes me do better burnouts.

My manual 5 speed stock f22a1 with over 250k does 70 at 2800 or so. Well I do have cold air intake and exhaust but that's it right now.

Rpm at a certain speed has to do with gearing.

Ive had it for almost a year now. My stepdad actually got it about a year and a half but barely rode it because when we bought the car it had a fart can and shinny 18 inch rims.

I tried like 3 TCUs and this is the only time overdrive has ever kicked in.

I would waste a full tank of gas in 3 days and in the last 3 days i am a bit just under half. saving so much money

Did you happen to do anything to the coolant system? I noticed when I took my thermostat out (car never got up to operating temperature), overdrive never worked. Seems like it will only work once the vehicle is at normal operating temperature.

yup ,, new thermostat and coolant too ,, maybe that gave it the right operating temperature and made the overdrive work.
