Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    That is a fairly respectable price, just about what you would have to pay if you bought all the parts and fluids. I would just be concerned with the quality of parts he will use.

      You might save some money and stress by going to the mechanic, but the knowledge you'd gain by doing it yourself would make it worth it IMO. If anything went wrong again, you'd know exactly what to check first. That's what I love about this site. I'm learning so much!

        so the balance shaft seal completely came off. and the cam seal was halfway off. all fixed now. and back on the road

          You're lucky, balance shaft seal failures can be catastrophic.

            so i hear. im lucky the homeless guy mentioned it. i was shocked that my engine was ok.

            i thought after running it for 2 blocks that it would be done for but i guess i was fortunate.

              he was probably a cb owner back in the day... he was like whoa that aint right... thank god he was there or your engine couldve been done

                yup. and i had every timing component possible replaced. got a oil change done and my water pump changed as well along with the 3 seals.


                came out to a lot of money but ehhh it was worth it knowing that it is all brand new.

                    If the balance shaft seal completely came off, it means the last time the timing belt was done, the person didn't know about the retainer piece that should have been added. You should get and install that retainer so it doesn't happen again.

                    I believe there was a TSB on the subject if my memory serves me correctly.

                      yea there was no retainer piece. it was added already.

                        Glad to hear that everything is well, and you now have the retainer in place , sucks though that it happened, when it could have been completely avoided .
