ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Recomendations for a quiet exhaust system (Budget)

I search for "quiet exhaust" and most of the recommendations fell on using the OEM system. I wanted new parts rather than pulling one of a JY car.

When I bought the car it had no Catalytic converter, and the entire system has rust and holes everywhere. I got under the car and tapped aluminium cans and it made the system bearable, but they melted away from the extreme heat and I was back at square one. At least I had 3 minutes of peace.

Anyway, I have no concern for performance what so ever. I want to make my cb7 as quiet as possible, or at least if I can find a balance between a quiet system and a decent price.
If I can spend less than $500 that would be golden. I would like a catylic converter, contrary to what some other accord owners told me to buy. I read that helps a lot with the sound, as well as keeps the fumes out of my nose.

    Any recommendations cb7?

buy a catalytic convertor and OEM replacement exhaust pipe from your local parts store. It will be new, and quiet, and won't break the bank!

At one point i was able to find Apexi's WS2 for less than 500 bucks but that'll be hard now but yeah going OE like will be the absolute quietest. If your flex pipe is ripped, it'll probably cheaper to go with a whole aftermarket header than to buy just the flex pipe from an autoparts store as with the header, the pipe is included.

catalytic converters will run you at least 120 bucks. I guess due to the rare metals in them the price has gone up because i bought my CC from Autopartswarehouse.com a few years ago for only 80 bucks and it came with the flange for bolting it to the other pipes.

You can get a magnaflow converter for about $90 shipped thats how much i paid on ebay, also bought the magnaflow cat-back for $325 shipped. Love how the car sounds nice and deep tone not that coffee can crap some of the civics i know are running.

"contrary to what others told you"? Good thing you're not listing to idiots that tell you not to run a cat!

As said above, OEM replacement everything should be fairly cheap from most autoparts stores. I don't recommend a "performance" cat, even a good brand like Magnaflow. They have a reputation for not lasting very long.

You could always go to a muffler shop and ask them what a full replacement exhaust and cat would cost you. I believe I paid $400 for my whole setup, and it had wider piping, a stainless sport muffler, and new flanges needed to be welded on. You could probably get a direct replacement for much less, installed.

2.5" catback piping with a 2.5" I-O resonator and 2.5" single tip muffler.

I never got it dyno'd, but other than a little edge off the absolute top of the rev range the butt dyno felt no difference. And it was just slightly louder than stock

Yeah, the suggestion was for performance I'll assume. The person had a swapped everything with a short ram intake and all sorts of fast car mods. I on the other hand want no such thing. This is my daily driver, I almost never go over the speed limit, and I never have to launch myself to get there. I have no care for performance, such quietness and health safety.

Thanks for the the suggestions guys, I appreciate it.

honestly. im running a megan header and downpipe to an cheapie ebay cat back. test pipe and i cut the muffler off and welded an acura RSX type S muffler. she runs great. sounds good and is quiet. little raspy but she is quiet!

A dolphin tip muffler would be sick too. They're quiet but they also give you deeep noice sound up in the RPMS.

Find a welder and peice an ebay exhaust together. we all know they dont fit right anyway

OP: what kind of budget are you looking for?

A good lasting exhaust system on the "cheap" side thats quiet with good performance is going to cost about 500 bucks + install.
