ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

The CB is every bit as race-worthy as a Civic, and they're raced regularly!
Mine will eventually be a streetable racer. I have two very nice new road courses within an hour from my house, so it'd be foolish not to!

Exactly!!! With a good corner balace and tire I could easily see a cb holding its own. What tracks do you live by? Also I'm not saying megan is superior in any way, just that it is a decent company that has built its brand and reputation very well through the years and I don't think anybody should fear that they will be wasting there money on them. Like I said before I pro ably would have went with a different company if my budget would have allowed me to but I needed a stiffer shock.

Megan is still a "knockoff" company, but they've established themselves as one of the better ones, for sure. Much like OBX. I'd definitely consider an OBX LSD, even though it's a copy of the more expensive Quaife unit.

I live by Englishtown Raceway Park and NJ Motorsports Park (Millville, NJ)
I can get to either one in about an hour or less.

"stanced" cars are stupid anyway. Riding on the edge of your tires doesn't make for good traction! Even a modest suspension like most of the quality setups we can get are potent enough for most amateur drivers. I probably won't need anything better than some good springs and Koni Yellows myself.

I'm curious as well. I have yet to get on a real road course, even in a kart (doing that soon... already purchased a discounted package ) I do practice racing techniques and I try to follow the best line while I drive for work... and as you can see by my sig, I drive A LOT for work!
I had some douche in a new GTI trying to keep up with the Fit on a curvy road the other day. I wasn't really paying attention, nor was I pushing hard (front tires are dangerously bald... I have replacements waiting to go on.) I realized that the GTI was actually trying to keep pace with me around the curves when I saw him slide into the opposite lane as he followed a terrible line! I slowed down then. I didn't want him to hurt himself or others because he couldn't do what I consider "normal" driving.

I dint know if obx fixed the issue but I've read about a lot of people getting their axles stuck in the diff.

The early OBX LSDs had some issues that could be corrected by essentially rebuilding them (still cheaper in the long run, but more work.) I've heard that they corrected it, but I don't know for a fact. It hasn't been a very common topic of discussion lately. Nobody seems to even care about LSD!

And that $400-ish is only the OBX! Everything else is $700+, unless prices have seriously dropped since I last looked.

They're apparently quite good now, and they were even solid once rebuilt when they were first released. OBX craps out a nugget every now and then, as does Megan (I actually have a Megan strut bar, a DC Sports knockoff, that I think is fantastic.)

Eibach has strut bars? I'll have to check it out!

Someday I'm going to ESP for a full set of chassis braces... as many as they can devise. Someday.

Thatll be next and new front lower shock mount bushings, which appear to be the same as the rears. Im on the hunt for a rust free southern shell first though.

OP: the setup I have can be had off the bay for about 560 bucks, MSRP is usually ~1200$...or more. It came in 30-40 dollars more than the STR.T/Eibach setup I was contemplating, plus the shocks are matched to the springs, so its quick satisfaction w/o killing the pocket.
