ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Rack and Pinion Bushings?!

Hey guys, my 91 EX CB7 is having a bit of a steering issue, i searched around and i didnt see much, The problem i am having is When i take a Right turn my steering wheel alignment turns to the left as if it was straight and when i take a left turn after that it goes back to normal. My question is could it be that when I take a Right turn My Rack and Pinion moves because my Bushings are too gone? Can it be the Steering Rack, My guess is that its the Rack and Pinion Bushings but idk And if its it where to buy them from, Dont say Ebay
CB will be out beginning of March

i can't really comment on your steering issue but most of the people on here order from Majestic Honda, TAS or RockAuto.
I get my parts from my older brother because he gets a commission on tires and parts even though he is reselling me the parts at whole sale price. So it's like Win Win for the both of us but yeah i have also ordered from all three of those companies i mentioned above.

Considered a wheel bearring or ball joint? If its noticeable in the steering, you should be able to find it pretty easy.

in my experience you would have very consistant issues and noises if the bushings in the rack were bad. Seems more likely you have an issue with either an upper ball joint, lower ball joint, inner or outer tie rod or a wheel bearring.

Thats my thoughts. It'd be pretty easy to diagnose prior to replacing the bushings on your rack.

          Jesus thats a PITA.

You should go to the part store, tell them your year, make, and model. Then tell them you want all of the parts on the car. Take the cart full at a time and start throwing them at the car until it fixes the problem. Once it's done, come back here and tell us which part you replaced fixed the problem.
Jokes aside, I think you should first test for symptoms, verified the problem then replace the part that is causing the problem. Throwing parts at the car won't diagnose it, and can be expensive. At the same time you are performing work that is not necessary.
              Good luck with your investigation.
Just like me, I have this rhythmic sound/feel in my driver's side. I tested for bearing, axle, ball joints, tires and bushings. Absolutely no play or symptoms of what is causing it. So at least I know it's safe to drive it until I come across the actual problem when doing some thing else later maybe. Today I sand down the rust on my hub and little on the back or my steelies. If that doesn't fix it, then I'll replace the end links. They are still together but with cracks, but functional. The only movement I have is when I tug on the sway bar, which should have a little movement in it.

Im sure you did a good inspection, so dont take me wrong here.

Sometimes an issue on the passenger side, particularly wheel bearring, can cause an odd sound coming from the drivers side. It works both ways actually. Basically, if you hear something on one side, dont just assume the cause of it is only on the side you hear it coming from.

What do you mean don't take you wrong? You are trying to help me so there's no wrong in that. Thanks for the pointer. I thought of that since the passenger's side axle was replaced almost a year ago but for $90 including part and labor, I bet it's a reman one. Though no boots broke noticed, the sound is very uniform per rotation and constantly the same. It's just recently happen more pronouncedly. It's feel like either axle or bearing but more like axle as it could be the bad teeth in the axle. There's no symptoms of a bad axle that I have noticed. I check by moving the axle outer and inner part and no play or movement. I cannot make a video as the sound is not loud enough for the smart phone to pick up.
