ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

86mm forged pistons in an f22a motor

ok guys im looking to put in some forged pistons and rods in my f22 a4 "donor" block. i was thinking of going 9:1., but from the research i been doing the only pistons i found are 86 mm and my stock pistons are 85 mm. so my question is.... how well do these blocks hold up to boring as im a lil worried that doing this is gonna make the stock sleeve to thin and its gonna crack or give me overheating problems.... anyone done this ? and what am i getting myself into? a friend of mine says its to m uch drama and just get a JDM and put it on low boost but im not really leaning toward that....

"just get a JDM and put it on low boost"? What the fuck does that mean? Boosting a stock block is no smarter than overboring stock sleeves. In fact, it's probably even more likely to fail.

You CAN bore the cylinders that much, but you're right... it would definitely weaken it. Personally, I wouldn't. If you're going through the effort of installing forged internals, you might as well sleeve the block. OR, get some 85mm pistons that will fit properly. I don't know of any offhand, but I'm sure you could find them... or get custom ones from any of the larger piston manufacturers.

im just in a bit of a pickle.. i blew my other block on like 19lbs of boost... LOL yep!!!!!! 19lbs..got a lil greedy and track day was coming up. actually we blew 3 that week.. my f22a6 my buds chevy with a 6.0/ turbo in it and my other buddies b16. needless to say none of us made opening track day.wll my buddies b16 actually snapped an intake valve"supertech" but only cause he had valves rated at 300hp and we were prolly leaning more toward 550-600 hp.. car was a beast.so in anycase.. i got everything done to my car cept internals and i dont want to waste what i got already.... example( act 6 puck and extreme pressuse plate, 850 cc precision injectors , bisi cam, ect ect ect .... where should i start looking... weisco perhaps?

The first thing I would do is contact Bisimoto. If anyone knows the best option for the F22A, they would.
And truly... if you're planning on making worthwhile power for your mods, just resleeve the block. Do it right.

You will need more than one sleeve. Bisi can help with that too.

LOL! umm naww i was just gonna buy one forged piston so all i needed was one sleeve... i meant a set of sleeves "that would be 4"... tnx for catching that though...lol

i spoke to julio in "tech dept" at bisi today and he said they have a Hugh amount of clients who elect to do the bore to 86mm on their stock sleeves and just drop in forged pistons and rods and they are well into the 350-400 hp range on a good tune.SOOOO has anyone here done that?

Yes they can be secretive. They won't give you measurement specs on some of their engine components when you e-mail them to ask.

But I also believe that if you're wanting to keep up with a 600hp B16 and a turbo LQ9 then you need to do a serious build around a sleeved block. For those power levels I would strictly focus on sleeves with an integrated deck. If you just want a car that you can run a small amount of boost on then you can probably run an 86mm piston but it's not ideal.
My Members' Ride Thread - It's a marathon build, not a sprint. But keep me honest on the update frequency!

Definitely sleeve the block your better off in the long run even with low boost and a good turbo

yea i see your point.. initially i was just wanting to have a streetable car.but realistically im not looking for 600hp if i can make 350- 400 reliably im ok with that.

b16 stuff is cheaper mby ill just start over and do a b16 swap...lol

my question still remains though.... has anyone done this 86 mm bore and had decent success?

I don't think that it is a case of them being secretive in the tech department. Seems as though it's more than likely that anyone you talk to there really doesn't have a F#@king clue what's going on. It's been that way for as long as I remember. Unless you can talk to Bisi himself, you are only going to get the info verbatim from the website.

86mm is good to go for 3-400 hp if you are looking for more than that. You obviously have the money and should be shooting for M.I.D sleeves and a full bottom end build.

well i dont know about having the money to do ALLL THAT... im just wanting to finish this LONG TIME build and have some decent results and a reliable car..keeping in mind im still running A/C P/S and cruise control.. lol

ok on another note though.. i found a set of what appears to be honda/ mitzu wiseco pistons for around 375... which beats the set imna have to have weisco custom make for me for around 600.. so is this piston gonna fit when it says honda/mitzu? i need to research the specs i guess.. ughhh more research.... research research research.... they are 85 mm pistons though.... hmmmmmmm

"Research reasearch reasearch" Faaaaak that! Welcome to the world of engine building....it's a science and reliability is measured in thousandths of an inch. You can do all the theoretical research that you want. It still comes down to physically measuring the shyte!
