ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    cold idle problem from hell...

Preface (yes I've used the search button): I've spent hours searching multiple forums including this one and to no avail as I haven't fixed my problem yet.

Where to start with this one; well the car runs like complete dog shit on a cold start. Barely maintains any idle and will stall after any load for about a minute or two until the FITV kicks and and raises the idle. After that first initial warmup the car runs like a champ and has no stalling/idling issues. I swapped an H23 manifold onto the stock f22a1 and about a month or two after, and in the winter this shit started to happen.

    I have:
1)Cleaned and replaced 3 different FITV's (even boiled one and adjusted it, apparently that didnt work at all )
    2) Replaced the IAC multiple times (junkyard pick, but tested to make sure proper operation before install)
    3) Changed ECT Sensor, IAT sensor, MAP Sensor broke out the trusty multimeter and checked resistances.
    4) No vacuum leaks to speak of, hoses are ran correctly.
    5) Deleted the Air Boost Valve (fixed a nasty driveability problem, but not start up.)
    6) In my desperation I even swapped in a random ECU I had laying around.

Can anybody tell me what I'm missing or need to look at, I've turned wrenches (professionally and on the side) for years but this thing is confusing the hell out of me.

How old is the fuel filter? Are your injectors functioning properly? Is your fuel pump working right? Is it throwing a DTC code? Have you tested your main relay? Just a few things to check.

DO you have an auto or manual? I had a similar problem where i adjusted the idle and cleaned out the fitv. Finally i changed my auto tranny fluid and the idle was good again.

Fuel filter is about 6-7 months old, I looked into main relay, and have yet to see any symptoms/ faults that match my issue. I'm going to look into a pressure test, and check to see if the regulator is functioning properly. No CEL on, and no DTC's stored when then diag port is jumped.

        And it's a 5spd.

        Thanks again guys.

Been scratching my head and I've finally pin pointed my issue. About every two weeks the overflow tank runs dry, I havent really payed much attention as I've swapped multiple iacs and fitvs and as such bled them.

Headgasket is on the way out. I've had enough, parting out the car and focusing on my BMW.
