ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    TB Butterfly Sticking Closed

Hi my car 91' Accord with 173,000 miles has been doing this since I got the car and am wondering if there is a way to fix it. When I let go of the pedal a to apply the brakes or leave the car. The pedal sticks closed, I have cleaned the TB and still the same thing. You can not move the TB by hand under the hood, unless you hit it with something. It is also hard to move inside the car, I have to hit the pedal then the rpms jump to 1500 then back down, but sometimes it is restuck after.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks

Clean the spring behind the rotor.

Then the only other thing i could think of is that you might have a ring of gunk behind/in front of the butterfly and it's getting stuck.

Did you remove the throttle body or just reach in there and clean it? I would remove it and clean it that way.

No I just reached in, If I removed it wouldn't I need a new gasket? Or could I use silicone gasket.

If you are careful you can do it without hurting the gasket, but yes that is a possibility. But be careful of the TPS, don't submerge it.

I cleaned mine with brake cleaner, and never oiled it, and it's fine. If your throttle is sticking so hard you have to jolt it to get it to move, I think that gonna have to pull it and really clean it good.

After you pull the 4 nuts that hold on the throttle body, slowly separate it from the intake, usually you can use a knife/chisel to peel the gasket away so it doesn't tear. If it does, they are only a couple dollars.

Id seperate it from the intake. Might as well clean eveything up real good while it's off.

Pull the whole throttle body, that way you have access to the back side of the butterfly. I'm talking about the gasket between the throttle body and the intake manifold. After you loosen the 4 books that hold the throttle body on, slowly slide it off, making sure the gasket isn't sticking, if it does that's where the knife/chisel comes in. DO NOT gouge the mating surfaces, it will cause a vacuum leak.
