ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Important safety SRS question

92 Honda accord lx f22a1 auto. Ok, so I installed my new bride racing steering wheel. But I had to hide my stock SRS component behind the dash ( underneath the steering wheel and on top of the pedals, by the main relay and stuff) I just stuffed it under there and secured it with a couple zip ties. I did this so I can keep the SRS connected and my SRS ligth wOnt come on( I don't like driving with warning lights on) I basically just relocated it. Can I possibly run into issues later on? I really don't want it to deploy under there for any reason. And I don't want to remove it like I did for a week Cus then I will be driving with an SRS warning light on. Thank you

    don't crash?

take it out, and then remove the SRS bulb.

I don't know about the legality of removing an airbag....

Do NOT have the airbag mounted anywhere except in the oem steering wheel on the steering column.

Where you currently have it will break your legs in a crash - Seriously.

Fit a dummy resistor in place, or refit the steering wheel.

Well u can't tell that I don't have an airbag Cus it's an aftermarket wheel so as far as getting into legal trouble Im good( I think) as far as removing the bulb I was thinking that but I was too lazy to do all that which is why I decided to just keep it connected but hidden under there. Funny thing is that I rear ended a jeep once with stock steering wheel and it never deployed ( wondering if it even works considering its age but then again the crash wasn't that bad. Any other thoughts?

DO NOT drive the car like that. Evil demon is right. It will break your legs if it deploys.

Your safety system is no longer a safety system, it endangers your health. in some states, it's illegal to remove an airbag from a car that was equipped with one.

Ok I'm going to remove it I don't want to be constantly worrying about it. But is there another way I can get rid of it without having my SRS warning light on? It can't go back to its oem spot Cus I got an aftermarket racing steering wheel and there's no place for that oem airbag thing. Is there another way or is removing the SRS ligth bulb the only way( if that's the case I'll just take it out and deal with the warning light?) what is that resistor method u mentioned? And of it would break my legs down there what will it do to your face if it's in it's oem spot?

if and when the airbag deploys from that position, it will either break your legs (the bag expands at near 200 mph) or do something else very very bad.

Your options are to either remove the airbag (fitting a dummy resistor as you wish) or to restore the original steering wheel and airbag module.

                you pick.'

as to whether it will pass inspection that is probably a state by state thing.

good thing you wrote in, that thing is dangerous as it now stands so now you can fix it.

if you didn't know, be sure to completely disable the SRS electrical system before working on it, to prevent the thing deploying in your face and injuring or killing you.

Wow I'm kinda scared to drive back home from work( I'm at work right now and I drove it like that on the way over here) once I get home I will def. take it out. Can I get more infor about this dummy resistor? What is it? What will it do form me and were do I get it?

I don't condone unsafe methods so if you want to know how to bypass the SRS via resistor, then your on your own on figuring it out.
                    Sorry
If you really want another steering wheel, you should use one that has an airbag.

It will break your legs because it will inflate directly into them.
When the airbag goes off normally, your head hits a deflating airbag - Not an inflating or inflated bag.

A Deflating bag - there fore it acts as cushion.

Plus hope that you dont get into an accident... If the insurance company finds out that you have removed/altered a vehicle safety system then they can immediately drop your coverage on the spot.

Yes they can big time. A buddy did that got into a wreck and his insurance dropped him on the spot.

I doubt my insurance will ever find out what I do to my car but thanks for the input Ppl I will def. remove from under there and deal with the SRS warning light( maybe remove the bulb later wen I have time) didn't realize it could be such a big threat to my legs. Thanks

You should call a state inspection station if you have to have your cars inspected, Virginia does. They will be able to tell you if removing the SRS will fail the inspection. If not call your local DMV or collision repair shop. Make sure you have the battery unplugged when messing with the SRS system. Don't forget a safety system can be lethal when tampered with.

No need for any of that here in in Illinois not even emmisions. Once the car is that old they don't think ppl would still be driving them so there's never anything you gotta pass ever. Yeah I got a bunch of negative feedback ( but good to know) about what I did so I'm def. going to remove it next time before I drive. With that being said I'm still left with this SRS warning light that annoys me. Any way to get rid off it ? I already know one way would be to remove the bulb from behind the cluster but that's work. Is there an easier way
Before I decide to go this route? ( fuse, ect?). Thanks
