ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Rear bottom strut bolt head broke off while installing coilovers

So I literally got my FnFs type 2 today and I decided to attempt to install them with my brother.

The problem is the bolt head of the rear bottom strut snapped off while trying to take it out. Have anybody ever ran into this problem? If so, what was your solution? If not what would you suggest for me to do?

Cut the old strut mounting off, and order a new bolt.

Yeah what I did was just cut the fork parts off the old strut with a dremel, like this here...

I then went and got an automotive grade bolt and replaced it.

The only thing is, if your bolt is seized in the actual bushing you will have to go through all that bullshit with the replacing the bushing. Hopefully for you the bolt was just hard to remove and the head was weak and snapped. Those lower bolt are notorious for seizing in the bushing though, you will know if thats the case once you cut off the old strut.

You'll need to cut the bolt inside the strut fork on both sides (don't cut the strut... there's no point.) Then you'll need to remove the lower control arm, press out the bushing, and order a new bolt and bushing. I just had the same thing happen to me. It's a pain in the ass. And no, you cannot drive the car until that bolt and bushing are replaced.

Another option is to hit a junkyard and pull a LCA off of a junk car. If you can remove the bolt without doing the same thing again, you can just slap on the new arm in place of the old. You'll still have to cut the old bolt out, though.

It's funny... that bolt seizing never seemed so common... yet it happened to me, it happened to Tippey (who just sold me a rear disc swap... which I bought in hopes of avoiding having to replace that damn bushing! same one!) and now it happened to you.
