ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Dude now you have a cell . This will give you a code . To get code pull off the passeger side kick panel look for a blue connecter. Jump that with a papper clip. The check engine
Will blink the code . With that code it will be easyer to help you.
this was put together by evil_demon_01 . You can also fined all this and more by him in the Common Beginner Technical Info can be found in here. PLEASE READ HERE FIRST

I dont get how your motor was still running if your rpm hit 0?

Sounds to me like your engine died and your car remained on.

Well either way, it sounds to me like its definately your distributor. The first time it died, you waited 45 minutes, the distributor cooled off and it started. Probably gonna happen again this time where the distributor cools off and turns back on at least an hour later. Theres threads on here on how to diagnose if its your distibutor or not. Search it.

Ahh i see. It might be it then, because the more we tried to turn on the car, the less power the car seemed to had, we let it rest for a bit, then it turned back on.

and yea lillg4, i guess yu can say that. I cant explain it, the motor was on, just died for some reason, Its like this: i was Driving 70 on the freeway, then suddenly check engline light comes on, the speedometer drops from 70-0 fast, and rpms are 0. Accelerate, and nuthing. Thats how it happened this morning.

Wow, I really dont know how I missed that your check engine light came on. Definately check on that. It might not even be your distributor and were telling you to buy a new one. If your check engine light turns on and it dies immediately after, then it definately sounds like that to me. Check for codes. If you dont know how to:

          http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=21259.

It is really important that you check out your CEL.

Although your check engine light may not be on, it could possibly have code(s) stored. Try diagnosing the CEL before buying random parts.

Edit: Sorry, lilg. At the DMV, so posting takes me awhile. Haha didn't see your post.

I see. So i'll have to diagnose the check engline huh? I guess thats the first thing i will do, before buying the parts. Thanks for the link. i see all the codes now that the link shows, although i dont have a CEL tester or whatever you use to check it, im going to look for the wire right now. Thanks to all who gave any advice and took the time to reply to this thread. You guys helped alot. This is why i love cb7tuner.

You don't need any fancy equipment to pull the code from the cel, all you need to do is put a paper clip in the service connector in the passenger kickpanel, like in the link the others posted. Then you start counting the flashes from the CEL, long pauses are 10, short pauses are 1, when all codes have been displayed, it will loop through them again, with a really long pause between the last and first code. Once you have that code, you should be able to isolate where/or what the exact issue is.

Do you mean oil changes or tune up every 3,000 miles or every 6 months? I usually change my oil at 6,000 miles. I run full synthetic. If you keep driving on a dirty air filter or drive it hard in the city, yes changing it every 3000 miles is better.
