ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    external harness internal dizzy question

    what is required?
i cut the dizzy plugs off a internal harness at the jy i figured i could replace the connectors on the external harness.
    info anyone? thanks

i will have to look thru my notes but if i remember correctly you need the plugs from the internal harness to wire to your existing harness, your gonna need to basically figure out which wires are for what, i had it written down somewhere but i think theres a writeup on here somewhere. i would just as easily grab a internal harness from the yard and start there but thats just me. i will post up when i find the pics and notes i had.

You actually WANT to keep the internal coil? People usually convert the other way!

If it's not raining tomorrow, and I remember, I'll see if I can snap a picture of my H22's setup. The shop that did my swap converted my 92 to run the internal coil. It's a shitty job, but it's worked for 9 years... so they did something right, at least.

You could use that bit of harness you clipped at the junkyard to create a subharness, so you don't have to cut your stock wiring. That would be your best bet. ALWAYS avoid cutting your car's stock harness if you can help it.

Honestly, though... you'd be better off getting a proper external dizzy. The internal ones tend to kill the coil faster, due to heat exposure (of course, "kill them faster" seems to mean 10-15 years minimum! )

yeah i hear that but i look at it as one less 8mm wire in the bay, all on preference i guess. plus ive never had an issue even when it was cracked when it rained with the internal, my cd on the other hand when it was stock with external that was another story might as well have yanked a plug out and drove lol i was a bit cheap to go and buy a new coil haha.

If you want to keep your internal coil, just cut the plug off of the harness that was for the existing coil, and splice together the yellow and black/yellow wire. Then cap the white/black wire. Then just plug the distributor into the 2 plugs you already have on the harness. You shouldn't need any extra plugs.

^Good point. He could also simply leave the plug entirely and bridge the 2 connectors w/ a 30a fuse.

as ive been researching i saw a banned member on here do that.
makes sense i just didnt know that the plugs were the same.
but thanks everyone for the suggestions i was in a rut.
and i also didnt know pros and cons of external vs internal
internal to me is one less wire and one less part to mess up (although the coil is inside the internal one) but physically..
              thanks all!

dan is correct, just put a 30a fuse in the plug for the external coil and it will work perfectly

                        sweet
this saved alot cuz the harness is already de loomed ready to be de-pinned.
im gonna take the white/black wire out the harness completely.
and join the two other wires together at the beginning of harness
chase bays? nah this tyler bays haha
