ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    TPS trouble?

Does anyone know wht symptoms I would have if ny throttle position sensor was bad or faulty?

im also interested in this topic. as i was throwing a code for it, however after resetting the ecu it has not come back on. it only came on after i let off the gas after flooring it in second all the way to red line. 7800 rpm, i have a F20B. i guess what im asking is what does that sensor do? i mean the throttle is controled by a cable, so what is it sensing? how open or closed it is and i guess allowing some fuel changes and stuff like that?

I had a tps go bad, when trying to tune my car on the dyno we could watch the % open work perfect till about 90% then it would fall back all the way to a -% while it should have read 100%. Was a huge issue trying to tune till we found that problem and fixed it. You can test the sensor with a voltmeter.

I never looked into it further though.

the tps is a rotary potentiometer, it reads how far the throttle plate opens and sends a voltage to the ecu, you can test it with a voltmeter. should read around .5 volt closed and 4.5v wide open(not sure about the exact volts, just google or look in a manual)

it will make your car run like crap basically, when i put my motor in O'rielys sold me a bad tps and i kept throwing the code. the car literally wouldn't idle by itself, when i would drive it would just sputter around in limp mode basically

If at first you don't suceed, then skydiving is not for you.

I try not to down talk anyone, when I read my old questions I realize I was an idiot too.

just replace it, your car will run very rich(limp mode) you will make the difference in gas in a week or 2 depending on how much driving you do.
