ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

Any shop that is competent can cut out the bad piece and replace it. If you can spend money, have them run all new pipe.

Well before you discuss options how much are you willing to spend? Do you want to do a simple fix? Or are you looking for some kind of performance gains? It's obvious that the coke can isn't killing the car so I wouldn't say this is an "emergency fix"; but obviously something you would like to take care of so you can pass inspection.

If you go ebay replace the damn bumble bee tuna can with an oval chamber type muffler other than that the piping seems to hold up pretty well.

I don't know if there's eBay in Australia. There must be an online auction site similar to eBay. I think I had stumbled upon one of those when I was looking for a parts for Ducati owned by my brother in Japan.

I would call around local shops for estimate on repairing the pipe if it was me.

why would you just repair one spot, because then other parts of it are going to go also.. and then repair it, and just keep doing that... just replace the whole thing with a e-bay system... they are actually pretty good S-RS make some pretty good stuff... i got a whole cat back for $200 and its been on there for year+

The OP is looking for a quick fix. And there may not be eBay in Australia to buy $200 system.

Why would you fix one spot of pipe when you can buy a new car for $20000? Would this logic work for the OP?

eBay is global....most or all of this eBay no name brand stuff you are suggesting comes from China. The distributors of these products are the only thing that is local.

                          err?

eBay is globally accessible, yes. And most of sellers of those $200 exhaust system are located in the US as far as I can find. If the OP buys a system from a seller located in the US, he would have to pay for extra shipping as well as tariffs, which for sure will off set the saving of buying $200 system.

And suggestion to buy generic system off of eBay came from some one else. So, don't quote me on that.

there is a complete different situation... the rest of the piping is going to go out(probably rather soon), and spending 50$ every week isnt worth it... either go to a JY and get a good condition one or buy a new one, if you can find a good price... im sure if he looked he could find one

For a quick, cheap fix, you can get something like this:

                              http://www.autozone.com/autozone/acc...er=402503_0_0_

It's just a flexible pipe that clamps onto your existing pipes. You need one of these pipes and two clamps. Make sure it's the right diameter. And always use jack stands when any part of you is under the car.

I don't know where to buy stuff in Australia, but I'm sure any auto parts store would have it.

This is just a temporary fix. First of all, these things don't last very long (longer than a soda can, but not by much). Second, if that part of the exhaust was bad enough to need patching, then the rest of it is probably ready to go as well. What this repair does is buy you some time to look for a new exhaust.
