ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    oil leak?

my cb is leaking oil on the transmission side and where the trans meets the block, but im not sure where its coming from.
The trans is not leaking because the oil in it is new and still clear but the oil that hit the ground is dirty. It seems like where the dizzy and the head meets is leaking but i bought a new dizzy about a month ago so that cant be it, is it possible the cam seal on the dizzy side is leaking?
Where the trans and block meets seems to be leaking also. I think its the main seal but not sure because noticed the oil pan is missing 3 screws close to the transmission? will missing screws cause the oil pan to leak? i would be helpfull to know cause it would save me 200-300 if it was this and not the main seal

Go and buy missing screws and install. If it stops leak, you know where leak was from.

Washing engine helps locate oil leak, better.

First things first, there is no "cam" seal on the dizzy side, only an o-ring, this o-ring:

The cam seal is on the opposite side of the cam, like this, it's the orange seal:

Now if your rear main seal was leaking you will generally see it leaking from the dust shield thats on the tranny, if you look you will see a " drain " spot at the bottom of the shield. And YES the oil pan will leak if there are missing bolts, especially 3....

If this is what your area near the distributor looks like, then its the dizzy seal:

Make sure you don't over tighten those oil pan bolts, they only require 9ft/lbs, IIRC. And loosen the 2 bolts holding the dizzy collar down before removing/installing the seal, and oil it up good.
