ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    Running lights

I keep blowing a fuse when I turn on my running lights, but only the one under the hood. I tried replacing one, but as soon as I turned the switch it popped. Ideas as to what the problem might be?
Edit: Also, what are the running lights wired in with?

I don't know a single thing about mechanics, but I can take anything apart and put it back together from memory.

    What are running lights?

Anyways, fuse blows due to short to ground between the fuse and load (light bulb in this case).

I would remove light bulbs those supposed be coming on by turning on the "running lights" and "running light fuse". With ohm meter, check for faulty continuity to ground by black probe to ground/chassis and red probe to power supply on the bulb socket.

Or, use a tool called, KD2524 Short Circuit Detector. It works.

Once you know which wire is at fault, physically trace that wire and look for chafed insulation. Use electrical tape to insulate.

Or you can hit up a local junkyard and just take the wiring from a junked cb if it is a bad wire.

It would be time and cost effective if you first know which wire to pull from JY.

Running lights are the lights that come on when you turn the switch to the first position on your light/turn signal lever. It also turns on the lights on your dash board. When you switch to the second position is when your headlights come on.

That means you have that many possible places for short and to check with.

"running lights" in canada are the lights that come on when you start the car. On our car it is the low beam bulb from our high beam bulb. Most cars here turn on right away and some when the car is taken out of park or the handbrake is released.

i would definatly check your ground. make sure there is no rust, corrosion, or paint. Possibly find a new ground. cause it does sound like you dont have a solid ground.

                these are my "running lights"

Faulty ground causes lights not to work, ie "not coming on". And it will not blow the fuse.
