ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

No power, popping sound from intake and exhaust

I've been having a map sensor problem for a while. Finally took it to a buddy of mine who has the same swap and exact setup. Wired it just like his, apprearntly, they had bypassed a valve or something, its on the bottom left of the intake manifold, right before the pipe of the intake connects, they had put the two hoses directly to each other. We started the car up, ran grreat, no hesitation, and it was moving really good. Went home, parked for like an hour and half, went back. I took off, and after about 400m the car started to "hold back again" but was dramatically worst.

now its popping through the exhaust and intake, intake popping is louder than the exhaust, it sounds like popcorn popping. It was 2am when this happened, so I pushed the car to a friends house and parked it on the road. I dont know where to start, other than undoing what we did. But besides that, some things it did just before the engine cut off was the speedo acting up, and the rpm guage did not budge, and eventually the speedo just stopped moving.

the car will not turn over, i have to push start it to get it going and it will not stay on unless i am reving the engine.

This happened the night before on a cold start, but went away with time once it got warm. I rely on my car for work, which i should be at now but cant cause i work 45 mins away by highway. Any input on where to start or what could be wrong would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

please keep in mind i have a h22a1 with 5 speed transmission

On the intake there is a red hose if that is cracked ot off that will cause it. Also could be because you by passed the map. Same happind to me . I replaced the hose and it stoped.

I don't see what red hose your talking about. Are you referring to the hose that runs from the valve cover?

ok. so turns out that it was my alternator not charging, it is going to get replaced on friday. i changed a bunch of stuff, and broke now, so when payday comes around, hopefully the alternator is the last issue.

Hmm, are you certain that the alternator would do that?

I'm pretty sure it would, with the car not getting enough charge, i figure the other functions such as the ecu would fail, fuel pump, throwing everything off hence causing bad detonation... when the booster was connected to the batter and we rev'd the engine, all was well. connected it with the hood open and floored it down the street, worked perfectly, took it off and the car doesnt move. I'm not going to replace the alternator just yet, i think i may have a loose connection, so I am going to look into that first.

nope. nothing other than what was mentioned earlier was done to the car, and this is after i got the popping sound which was new distrubutor, coil, plugs, and wires.

Just an update for those who stumble upon thIs later. Everything mechanical was fine. Nothing needed to be replaced. Turns out the wires coming from the alternator going to the fuse box was corroded. So I replaced it and the poppping went away and the battery was finally charging. I wish I had stumbled uon this before I did al that work
