I remember reading a thread about useless upgrades kids love doing. One topic was using a racing clutch on a near stock engine. I searched and cannot find this thread.
I have friends who say they want to get a race clutch, and be JDM AS FUU... and so on.
From what I can remember it was said that there is no need for a clutch designed to handle great loads of power, requiring more friction, more grab. But when using one on a stock engine the beefed up clutch will just slow you down?
I want to obtain the correct info. Otherwise I'm just saying "I think I heard it's bad..."
Deevergote: Get the clutch that is best suited to your application. If your car is making 175whp or less, an OEM replacement clutch will suit your needs just fine. A more performance-oriented clutch will offer absolutely no benefit, and it will just give an annoyingly harsh engagement, and wear out faster (just as performance brake pads do... a clutch is essentially the same concept.)
This helps a lot but I`d like any more advice, that way I don't sound like a dumb ass.
