ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Race clutch on stock engine. Why not?

I remember reading a thread about useless upgrades kids love doing. One topic was using a racing clutch on a near stock engine. I searched and cannot find this thread.
I have friends who say they want to get a race clutch, and be JDM AS FUU... and so on.
From what I can remember it was said that there is no need for a clutch designed to handle great loads of power, requiring more friction, more grab. But when using one on a stock engine the beefed up clutch will just slow you down?
I want to obtain the correct info. Otherwise I'm just saying "I think I heard it's bad..."

Deevergote: Get the clutch that is best suited to your application. If your car is making 175whp or less, an OEM replacement clutch will suit your needs just fine. A more performance-oriented clutch will offer absolutely no benefit, and it will just give an annoyingly harsh engagement, and wear out faster (just as performance brake pads do... a clutch is essentially the same concept.)

This helps a lot but I`d like any more advice, that way I don't sound like a dumb ass.

That quote you have what Deev said was way more than enough especially for youe friends who say "JDM AS FUU "...

...Deev didn't sound like a dumbass and neither would you...

Look at your friends and tell them straight up....its pointless

A race clutch on a stock engine won't hurt performance

its just a waste of money.

you can get a stage 1 kit
          (throw out bearing
          clutch and flywheel)

          and call it an upgrade.

          going beyond that is unnecessary.
RIP 4/23/12...lets not forget, the 88" Z31 turbo, are my dailys

A race clutch, like race brake pads, will wear faster, and cause accelerated wear of the pressure plate and flywheel friction surfaces. It won't hurt anything except your wallet. It will give absolutely no benefit whatsoever. Due to the harsher engagement, stalling is more likely... so if stalling is JDM AS FUU... then your friends might like it.

When it comes to a clutch, you need to get what is best suited to your equipment.

Most people forget, as deev said, racing clutch means heaver pedal, harder to drive. Less slip. So the clutch is ether in r out. Lol.

Also puts more stress on the thrust bearings on the crank.
