ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

EX & LX Cruise at different RPM's

    MY 1991 EX Cruises 70mph @ 2850rpm

    My 1990 LX Cruises 70mph @ 2500rpm

Can I simply change the ECU on my EX so it will run out at a lower rpm?
My gas mileage is nowhere near where it needs to be, I only get 23 at best.

To easily get any car to turn less RPM bump up the tire circumference.

What do you think your MPG is supposed to be? Look here for realistic figures http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/7794.shtml

Thanks for the link, good info there.

So you are saying bigger tires will give me a lower cruising rpm. That makes sense to me, although I never would have thought to do that!

I have planned on buying new tires at the end of this month, so I will consider upsizing. Does anyone know the largest tire size that will fit in a 1991 EX sedan? I want tall and as wide as I can go.

I want my EX to get at least 25... It has gotten as bad as 19 before, but I had a bad o2 sensor and a CEL. I think it would help if it ran out at a lower rpm. I recently checked/adjusted my timing, that seemed to yield me about 2-3 more mpg. I was pretty stoked about that!

your only gonna get a few hundred rpm lower than you normally would. its not worth the inaccurate odometer and speedometer. i pulled 31 mpg pulling an empty trailer with my coupe going 75 the entire way. thats with the rpm at 3k the entire time.
