I've noticed some "quirks" with the tranny of an accord I just bought for cheap.
First. When initially put into d4, car jerks pretty good. But when put into 1 or 2 it doesn't jerk. So what I do is put it into 1 or 2 and then slide it into d4. I do this to minimize any wear and prolong life. Reverse jerks only very slightly.
Second. Transmission has funky shifting characteristics. Like for example. Say I floor it and I'm in second at 5k and then let go of throttle completely, car will shift into 3 for a moment and then 4. Once I hit the brakes and slow down enough it seems to disengage and rpms return to normal. It shift into the 4th gear on it's own pretty much all the time when I let go of the gas and am going fast enough. Also the auto tranny engine brakes? Other auto cars I've driven soon as you let go of throttle transmission completely disengages and rpms to to idle level. At first I thought it was an idle issue but didn't realize that it was actually shifting into higher gears.
Other than that it shift like butter. Any recommendations, insight...
