Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

94-97 F22B1/5 Speed swap into 90 Accord LX

Hey guys! New to the forums, and the whole Honda scene. Just picked up a 90 LX from a friend of mine. I found an F22B1 Vtec w/ a 5spd I can pick over for parts, I can get everything for a very very good price, so my question is, will it fit and is it worth it. A DSM based turbo build is in the cars future if things follow through, so would be doing it all at once.

    Any help is appreciated.

the f22b will bolt in but is as much work as an h swap
not worth doing for as much work as involved with this engine
let me be the first to say congrates on the new ride.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Also, if you plan on using a DSM manifold on an F22B1... forget it. The ports won't match up. That only works on an F22A.
Furthermore, the F22A is a much better candidate for performance. Don't be suckered by VTEC...

Heres about all the info you need....Just takes a little research.
        http://cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.p...ght=f22b1+swap

DSM set will not work on the F22b's it has a different bolt pattern and the ports are spaced different aswell.Good engine's though can't complain about the one i did a mild build on, but compared to the F22a heads the f22b is lacking quite a bit.So if you plan on a serious mild-wild build stick with the F22a it has more potential.

          Thanks guys!

I was hoping no one around here would be ass face's like the DSM community is.

From what research I've done the A6 I found and the PT6 ECU thats in the car would be viable build options? My goal is 270whp. Roughly 1hp to every 10lb of the vehicle (judging by curb weight data, 300whp would probably be realistic when its ready to run with me in it to achieve the same ratio).

          Its a +10hp and +3ftlb. increase for $100.

I'm still uunsure if the trans will swap from 9497 to my 90. If the shifter, pedals, cables, and all the other happy shit will work that will be picked up with the motor as well. I'm *hoping* to pick up parts in Feb. '12 or so.

I've owned so many cars in so many different configurations I'm excited to build something new to me. Never hurts to learn!

The transmission will swap over. I'm not 100% on the pedals and other parts, but they may work as well (check the Honda part numbers... same number, same part, and it will work with no problem.)

Any F22A would be a fine build option for turbo. If 270whp is the goal, i suggest installing forged internals, as a stock block will not hold that for very long. The sleeves should hold that much, though, so resleeving shouldn't be necessary.

If the F22B1 you found is free, and in good condition, then you COULD use it. You just can't use the DSM manifold. You'd need a manifold that was made to fit the engine. They do exist, though most that I've seen are pretty poor quality ("ebay" stuff.) You could achieve your goals with the F22B1, but it's not worth the cost and effort if you already have an F22Ax in the car.

That's kind of what I figured. I'll check on the part numbers. If the A4 is a good option I will stick with it. Although picking up another motor to build would be nice. They are only $100 acronym the local u pull it yard. Also, what's a recommended injector size? Would the 422 injectors from a DSM be good?

Cost is the enemy and for me stock DSM parts are plentiful and best of all CHEAP!

All F22A engines are essentially the same. The only differences are the parts bolted to them (manifolds and camshaft, mainly).

If you're still learning what you're doing, boost the stock block, and plan on blowing it up. Do everything as carefully as possible, and learn from your mistakes. In the meantime, build another one on the side. That way, when you install the built one, you'll run less of a chance of blowing it up for a stupid reason.

Use the DSM 450cc injectors... blue top.

they have the same resistance as the stock injectors
just need to reem out the rubber thats in the base of the intake
i used a unibit last time, worked good

I figured as much. I'm probably gonna run a 14b with an MBC. I know the stock wastegate holds till 8psi. I have an mbc I purchased when I owned my TSI so that's what I'll be using. I figured to build it as well as I can and run it till it blows. Then look at what failed and what caused it and go from there. At least I'll have the turbo kit set up to be 100% bolt on when The new engine goes in.

If you manage to do everything right, and tune it carefully (you DO know how to tune an ECU, I assume... if not, you have a lot to learn.) then the first thing that will go will be a ringland. The stock pistons don't hold boost for very long.

I don't know that I'd even attempt to push more than 8psi, honestly.

I might give an N/A build a shot first. Most Mods for that will still be compatible with a turbo set up anyways. Has anyone made 200hp or so with an N/A build?

It would be cheaper to boost and get a good tune. But if you really want to do NA bisimoto would be the place to start looking.

                            200whp N/A with an F22A is easily doable. 250 is fairly common. Bisimoto's full-race motor is making over 400whp (N/A F22A-based)

The F22A has an insane amount of potential. It just needs a little effort to bring it out.

Money is always te deciding factor with everything, as I'm sure most here know. To cure the mod itch I'll probably do basic bolt ons in the meantime.

I still have my GTP to go fast in. That's the next turbo project. But I recall a thread around here about hated they are here so we won't talk about it.
