ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Car acted weird when I tried to start it.

Yesterday I was going to start my car and everything was right ,but it seemed like it just died when I started it. All the electronic stuff was working ,but when I started it it was on for maybe half a second then turned off. Why is this?

Clean your battery cables and terminals, and make sure the connections are secure. There is another thread currently directly under this one dealing with the exact same situation.

I saw that one. I was able to start my car after this happened though. It did sound a little weird for a few minutes ,but then it was fine.

Yes, that will happen. Clean your connections, so it doesn't happen again. Also, make sure all grounds are clean and secure.

Did you clean, adjust idle or some thing else? I pulled my fast idle valve electronic connector and cleaned that. Put some contact grease in there and made sure the connector is good on it. Never happens again. However, I don't know if that is the cause. I check the TPS and the voltage seems good. Not sure if you have a TPS problem it would be more consistent.
But does it seems like the cranking is weak and didn't want to turn over? If you keep your hand on the ignition and keep cranking it will turn over and you have to keep your foot on the pedal for 10 seconds to keep it idle high. Then the problem doesn't occur again for that day.
          That was how mine happened.

Just remember... cars don't fix themselves. If something went wrong once, then something IS wrong, even if it doesn't happen again.

I cannot really pin point the problem as it does not occur on the consistent base. But when it happens more often then I will find out more. For now, if it occurs once or twice a year and the car still start after a few minutes, I can live with that.

I think there is a little ground lug for the computer on the thermostat housing. I would definetly give that a quick once over.
