ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Yeah, do what you need to do to the H23, drop it in there, leave it stock, and get to work on that F22. Sleeve it, install forged internals, and build a turbo setup that will make the power you want. Tune it carefully, maintain it properly, and it SHOULD last. Try to avoid boosting on stock internals (all the H and F engines will eventually break a ringland, even in the most capable hands... it's just not built to hold boost.)

Yeah, that sounds like a plan. I kinda wanted to do a DSM turbo setup on stock internals, and upgrade it as I go, but the thought of it not lasting very long bugged me a lot.

Plus I have the mind set to do things right, just usually not the budget for it. So I think with the motor out it will let me put money into it and not worry about reliability of my DD will make it easier.

Yeah... with stock internals, especially if you're rather new at turbo... upgrading as you go would probably involve getting a block that doesn't have a huge hole in the side of it from a thrown rod...

So i guess the question to ask is:

Which motor is better for boost? the H23 or the F22? Wouldn't the long stroke of the h23 be better for boost?

They have the same stroke, 95mm. The H23 has a larger bore.

Either is fine for boost if you resleeve and use forged internals. If you want to go cheap, the F22's iron sleeves are compatible with many more forged pistons than the H23's FRM sleeves (compatible only with Mahle Gold Series pistons, and MAYBE some pricey options from Cosworth and JUN... they never replied to me when I asked, so I can't say for sure.)
Both in stock form... they're about the same. The healthier of the two will be the best option, but it won't last long.
