ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Suspension clunk that won't go away.

    HI everyone.
My rear suspension is making a clunjk/rattle when i go over bumps. It sounds like its coming from the right side.
If I go down a dirt road it sounds like it's about to fall apart.
I've replaced both control arm bushings, and the strut on the right hand side. All new parts except for the bottom rubber piece that goes between the strut and the spring.
I haven't replaced the left strut yet. The bolt the mounts it to the knuckle is seized. Both of those bushing look like they could use replacing. I have them on order and will get them in sometime this week.
When I did the passenger side rear forward control arm (the toe in one) I accidentally bent the (subframe) piece of metal that goes across from wheel to wheel. (Not a sawy bar). I bent it back and had it aligned. Still makes the noise.
I haven't replaced the trailing arm bushings, and I'm not sure how. I think Hardline.com sells them, but I haven't called to confirm.

My question is this: Once I get these lower bushings done, and the left side strut, what else is there to replace if the problem remains?

Sure it's not your exhaust or muffler coming loose or even the heat shields?

Positive. Not only do I have a literally brand new (3 days?) muffler, but these aren't exhaust noises. My heat shield for my cat occasionally rattles, and this sounds nothing like it.
I forgot to mention it in my first post, but when I apply the brakes, I can feel the clunk in the floor.

I did. I was saying it wasn't new. It was original.

Thought I'd give an update. I tore the bushing holding the RR strut in. I'm going to pickup the new bolt after school today. I was seized and when I forced it it tore the bushing.
After I tore it and drove it, it sounded a little worse.
I'm hoping it's the bushings. I have new ones sitting on my passenger seat and I should get them in after work today.

I got the bushing and strut in on the left rear. I didn't have time for the right side.
At this point, I'm thinking it'll be the trailing arms. I went back and looked at a picture I had of the right side when I had the knuckle out. I left the trailing arm in and it's sagging pretty badly.

It was the trailing arms. I filled them with Urethane and almost all my symptoms went away.
No more steering itself, or random weird rattles.
It does still make a noise when: Slow starts and stops, and turns. Pretty much anything under 15 mph. And it's not a predictable noise. Sometimes it has me thinking it only does it when the car is cold, othertimes it'll do it after a few hours of driving.
I showed it to my friend, he suggested motor mounts. They do look worn, and the front one has some play, but I'm not convinced that they're the source of my noise.

I would like to bump this (sorry JoshM) by saying that my front tires are getting chewed up.
The inner edge is wearing faster than the rest. It looks like the outer edge might be too, but if it is it's not nearly as bad. It also feels like there's a "lip" in the inside inside track edge of the tire. If that makes sense. I made sure all my tire pressures were correct.
The noise is still there, so either something has failed since I got an alignment, or they did the alignment wrong.

Looks like all of my problems are resolved!
My front right radius rod was scary loose. Like, the nut was half way off.
Not sure what would happen if the radius rod came undone, but it can't be good. Tightened it back up and everything is good!
One last question though, since i messed with the radius rod, do I need an alignment?
