ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Ill say start by checking the basics just a few spots to look over. Fuel rail area, Injector o rings, fuel filter lines, gas hoses. You wanna look for cracks or anything of that nature but really need more info as to are you losing gas stuff like that.

Injector o-rings are common issues since they are old. I would check on that and as said above.

What "vents" are you talking about?

I believe he means from the hvac vents in the dashboard... which suggests the fuel leak is in the engine bay.

I figured as much, but wanted clarification. I get the same smell occasionally, buts its because I'm missing a stud on my header. OP I would suggest cleaning your engine around the rail and injectors and then look for leaks and/or spots. Also clean around the fuel filter and do the same.

If you're smelling fuel because of a missing stud on the header, then you are running rich... That fuel should be burned by the time it exits the exhaust valves. Either that, or your ignition or valve timing is off... or your spark is weak.

Its a small leak, you can actually see the stud missing in my MRT, upper row, right in the middle. I cant smell it all the time, just usually after a hard pull. Timing is dead on, but I know my valves are too tight, I get a little back firing going down a hill in 3rd, just riding the clutch.

If it backfires, you are definitely igniting the air/fuel mixture after it exits the exhaust valve. You'll want to fix that before you do serious damage to your valves and cat.

I know, Ive just been lazy, and it only does it in 3rd under load; ie going down a steep hill, not while flat. I even have the feeler gauges borrowed sitting in my car to do it. Sorry OP, not trying to thread jack.
