Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Spring Compressor

    I need some advice on which spring compressor to buy/rent.

    I don't really want to take them to a shop, I'd rather buy one.

    My problem is this: Every one I've seen is too big.

    The "teeth" that go into the coils are too large. I have roughly 1/4 inch in between coils.
    Every compressor I've looked at is about 3/4 of an inch.
    I can loosen the nut to give me more space, but it still isn't enough.

    Also, they're Monroe quick struts. Nothing special.
    Links are appreciated. I haven't tried sears or Performance tool.

    I have the exact same problem and haven't found any solution.
    All of them are too big and when I want to buy or rent one they give me a MacPherson one.
    We are looking for a coil spring compressor, NOT MacPherson.
    I saw one online but gave up looking by myself and wasting time.

    If anyone could find a proper tool that would be great!

        use a pry bar to open the coils slightly larger that's what i have always done

          you dont need a spring compressor for the back. i bought some nice ones at my local harbor fraight tools. 3 tangs 1 up on top 2 at bottom for stability.

            That's what I've always done. It always worked for me.



            Don't loosen that nut until the springs are compressed. If you accidentally loosen it too far, it could shoot off like a bullet. Since you'll probably be leaning over it to loosen it, you could get shot in the face. Nobody likes getting shot in the face.
