ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

No sign of vacuum leak Idle problem

So here is the scenario. I tried to set base idle to 600 with iacv plug off and car wont go any lower than 1000k. Ok so where is the vacuum leak?

I checked all possible hoses and wires and no luck. Sprayed 2 cans of carb cleaner with no luck at all. Cleaned and checked IACV and FITV,EGR,Thorttle cable and still problem persist.

It only revs up to 1400 and comes down to 1000. Most of the time it does it sometimes it dont. If you turn on the A/C its stops the surging turn it back off and surging begins.

I do not know what else to check there is no CEL light either. Can the car be out of timing or its a vacuum leak somewhere i cant find?

When you unplug the IACV, does the surge stop?

It was a mixed outcome. At times it did and sometimes it didnt.

I can do that but it would only be masking the problem. Id like to get it fix the right way since its going to be my DD.

Have you looked over any fuel components. Fuel problems can cause it too. Is the fuel filter new easy and cheap fix. Clogged fuel injectors. I don't think timing would be an issue it would just be to high or to low. But loosen your dizzy and give it a little turn see what happens. Disconnect your main fuel relay open it and look to see if any solder is flat dosent hurt to check it.

I have not checked the fuel filter i only sprayed carb cleaner on the injectors to see if the leak was coming from there but nothing.

Now all this leads to one thing not being able to set idle properly. There has to be something that is either malfunctioning or not closed tight that it surges at different times but for the most time.

Had a surging on my car once, turned out to be a vacuum leak behind my IM where I had a rubber plug on it. The plug looked fine but had cracked when I touched it. Best to check every vacuum line/port.

I am pretty sure i checked all the hoses real good with the carb cleaner.

What doesnt make sense is that you cant really here a vacuum leak. There is no sucking noise that is noticeable. There is a noise like hissing sound coming from the area of the power steering pump but it might just be the pulley spinning.

Went back today and checked again and the idle surging is still there?

Dude I had that problem too. I had something wrong with the vacuum lines. I just took in to this shop I always go to and they fixed it for free because it was something so small. it might be so small your just missing it bro.

That would be my last resort into taking it to shop. I would be real pissed off if it ends up being something small.

Ok i went back and check the FITV and IACV. There was a video on how to check them on the TB. At this point I have done just about anything that is in my hand to check.

Nothing happen. Not even the surging idle. But RPMs are still 1300k and idle screw is fully closed! What else can it be?

I had the same problem on my ex-girlfriend's CB. Tried everything. Then, I heard that air in the coolant can cause intermittent weird idles, but the bitch wrecked it before I could try that solution.
                              Maybe that's it?
